Thank you for this! I was there in '88 with my mom. We had a picnic and she decided to go around the cliffside on that peninsula to get to the toilet bowl. She had the picnic basket and car keys and i was holding on to some kind of glass jar. Well, waves started hitting, ledge got narrower, and one of those knocked the glass jar out of my arms and i had a bloody gash on my thigh and my mom lost basket and keys to the ocean. When we finally made it around to the toilet bowl all i remember was crying , someone giving me a towel to wrap my thigh with and a guy with a blue and black striped speedo came up and asked my mom if she had lost her keys .. sure enough, it was her keys (car, apartment, everything)! I couldn't remember what it looked like. It's a core memory but only had small pieces of it in my memory because I was only THREE! This gave me a whole picture and realize my mother was crazy 😅 for taking me out like that! Whew! Thanks for this areal shot of the whole place!

This is an AMAZING bike trail. I am super fortunate to have jogged and biked the trail many times from the Sheraton in Kapaa. I've been to lots of places as a flight attendant but this trail offers sights you wont see anywhere else. Added bonus if you do it a sunset. I always use a flashlight if after dark. This increases your visibility. I was once nearly ran into by a biker while walking after sunset.

All those vertical rocks, or pyramidal, or triunghiular shaped etc are petrified buildings just like at Petra, Hegra, Sedona, Utah, red desert Australia, Peru etc. We see here an ancient-culture city melted away and baked up due to an asteroid collision 💥 in the area. The place of impact of the asteroid is a salty lake either dried out or still with water just like The Dead Sea and Salt Lake of Utah, or the (dried) salt lakes of Arabic Peninsula or Australia, or South America. They invented some explanation to all these red rocky formations in Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Hegra, Petra, Australia etc but it is baked up limestone bricks. You can see layers upon layers. Further away from the impact the contour of the buildings is very clear and resembles the ancient Indian forts and temples. Please rewrite history. The Dead Sea was formed upon the impact of the meterorit striking the valley of Jordan. Jordan river crossed the peninsula and emptied in the Red Sea prior to this cataclism. Now the course of the river is stopped due to the crater which formed the Dead Sea. South from the Dead Sea you will find Sodom and Gomorrah. Carbonized to white ashes. It was the ground zero of the impact. North of the Dead Sea are cities with remains of vitrified pottery and stones witnessing the thermic reaction of the collision 💥. The city of Petra 80 miles away from Sodom and Gomorrah baked up and melted just like the cities along Colorado River, Sedona, Hegra and Utah did. Utah National Park and Sedona are the remains of ancient-culture buildings with tempels, ziggurats, pyramids and forts just like in Egypt and India. Either they are totally naive telling us that these formations are eroded rocks and mountains or they purposely hide the truth. If you read these reaction than you have the chance to start thinking out of the box, at least if you give it a serious thought. God bless.

Thanks for sharing your great experience - I will be headed out on a similar Grand Canyon rafting trip in a couple weeks --- I'd love to learn how you managed your filming - I will have a hand held Galaxy S23 Ultra phone but was just loaned a Go Pro Max and I an trying to learn the best ways to mount it for the best river running footage. I'd appreciate your help if you see this comment before then! THANKS!
@travelonourmindsin4k5 aylar önce
Aloha John - I used a GoPro Hero 9, iPhone 11 Pro Max, and a Sony A7III with a Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 lens. I prefer to shoot video in "Linear" mode and in 4K so I can sample down later if need be. Most of the photos I took with the camera are not included in the video since I didn't want to crop them to fit 16:9 ratio TRshow requires. I mounted the GoPro on a floating NuBear handheld mount/tripod for the calmer sections and used a lanyard attached (to the GoPro) to my floatation vest for the rapids ( my wife and I switched off filming depending on who was at the front of the raft). Best advice would be to take your gear out for a test run before you go if possible. Also - don't forget to bring extra batteries for the camera and a portable battery charger for your phone and GoPro batteries. I'm sure you'll have the trip of a lifetime and I look forward to seeing your results!

I survived the toilet bowl 39 years ago. I was not pushed out like the other people. I fell on my back when the waves suddenly receded. The waves rushed in again, toilet flush, and I was rolled into the space underneath the edge which is like the space beneath a shelf. Not sure what the correct term is. The wave literally kept rolling me as it rushed in and trapped me under that space that extends well under the edge and narrows down. My right hip was gashed and I remember severely choking and panicking. Eventually the wave rolled out again. I managed to stand up and caught the next flush and successfully was pushed out onto land, the lava rocks. I still say there should be shirts that announce, I SURVIVED THE TOILET BOWL in Hanauma Bay, Oahu, Hawaii. This is an unforgettable, life long memory as a teenager.
