@Cadet one of the reasons must be that mrmakoto thinks that, if he's just everywhere, being an internet phenomena that gets much more attencion than it should, makes him feel like he's watching something very ordinary, very forgetable. It's a direct hit through his confort zone to be constantly checked by a random dude who gets 10k likes for something random that sounds fake and generic 90% of the time. Althoght there's nothing inherently wrong with what the mustache guy does, being mediocre overall and portraying a generic response to a lot, and I mean A LOT OF VIDEOS, makes him very annoying at times. "What about just ignoring him?" It's not that simple. This dude is everywhere and, no matter your attempts to ignore him, he'll be in the top comments most of the time. It ruins the feeling of 'the unknown" that every new creator you discover gives you. Want you or not, he'll be there, doing shitty comments, and that's what mrmakoto doesn't knowledge or plies and pretend to ignore.

I think what just makes finding Drake even sweeter is the fact that the room that the door initially goes to (if it wasn't randomized), leads to the only room in the entire game that you can catch Bagon, of which Drake is the dragon type elite four member and his ace happens to be Salamence. Amazing.
@MewMonster58 That shouldn't be hard to calculate

While it's cool having the Elite 4 all in one place. Drake being in that one part of Meteor Falls (which is especially cool because it's the one place in the game you can catch Bagon) made me realize how cool it would also be for the player to have to hunt down the Elite 4 and find where they are. They could be in especially difficult places to find, leading to a greater emphasis on exploration.

There's something oddly cute about the fact that Smallant's Golbat had a high enough friendship level to evolve into Crobat.
Anonymous Aylar önce
Ants strategy for this was extremely intelligent. Recognizing that because the order is messed up an effective strat is to catch whatever pokemon you can early from a diverse set of levels so that you can breeze through the gyms once you find them all was brilliant. That kind of situational awareness is something I think speedrunning really builds into someone. Knowing what strat to apply when and when to abandon a strat and try something else is a fundamental life skill in general. As the great Kenny Rogers put it, "You gotta' know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, and know when to run."

Oh also he's doesn't make theses mods he is just in charge of the mods who make them and is the one who came up with the idea. Anyways sorry this was long lol

Catching that level 40 Golbat in the beginning really helped you alot , he was still using a level 36 swampert halfway through the vid , MVP goes to that Golbat , and after you caught Rayquaza it was over, great video great hunch on Drake
secaleohsrevlis 4 gün önce
Why wouldn't it listen? It wasn't traded to him.
HunterX57 11 gün önce
The almost instant catching of lvl 40 pokemon was a the most clutch part of the run. Especially with both of them running on multiplied speed, having a lvl 40, whether it listens or not, greatly reduces the amount of white outs, obstacles, and overall stress so that Ant could calmly focus on mapping the world.

@Paige Crowley Jones For some people, integrity matters and it still does whether it changes anything or not. What they said and did in the VoDs and the edited video indicate that Ant is covering Crows ass because Crow got more backlash than expected. No one likes a cheater. Fewer people like a cheater who play off that they cheated as if it was nothing or deny fault. Ant even said that Crow made that rule, then Crow says they didn't go over it. Ant talks about the rule openly with Crow in the recordings. Crow acknowledges it, essentially says the equivalent of it sucks Ant is getting soft-locked and having to do what they agreed to, and then he continues to cheat immediately after. If they hadn't agreed to it, Crow would've questioned it or clarified. Ant was detailed in what he relayed. Up until that point, it was questionable, but understandable. After that, it was scummy and recolored the earlier occurrences as such too. He should've owned it and leaned into it, instead of making excuses and Ant having to provide cover. That would've sat better with more people, IMO. If they're known for friendly competition's and messing with each other, with Ant usually winning, he could've played it as a trick on Ant that the audience was in on, which would be revealed afterwards. Instead, it comes off as deception against Ant and the audience, with a doubling down. Integrity in a test of skill (whether for fun or otherwise) matters to people. If both people present themselves as and claim to be going in/participating legitimately, before, during, and after, but do/did not, then it becomes an issue. That's all.

What made it worse for me was when Ant explained the situation he was in and where he even said he was basically soft locked but he wasn’t technically so he had been having to spend a ton of time trying to die to low level zubats to white out and then Crow acknowledges it, looks a little off, then refers to it as a soft soft lock and the continues resetting like he was before without it being discussed or clarification being made as to expectations since Ant was obviously going beyond what he was. I blew it off as a simple misunderstanding, albeit annoying, until that.
InsaneInsomniac 2 aylar önce
Ant's story about Rayquaza reminds me of one time trying to catch Ho-oh in crystal version, I used a LOT of balls across the stupid number of resets I tried, and it just didn't wanna be caught, I got fed up, said I'm giving you one pokeball then I'm just killing you...and he stayed in the ball

I think a lot of people are freaking out over the fact that Crow was resetting when he was "soft-locked". The thing is, the reset really only bought him maybe a minute tops since his team was garbage anyway. It just saved him the small amount of time it would have taken for zubats to kill his bench.
spyeyeklom1 Aylar önce
Tbf I think the real issue is how much time it lost Ant. Tes it didn't save Crow long on his game but if Ant was aware that was the rule then it would have saved him A LOT of time, so it still gave Crow a pretty big boost timewise in comparison

@Marzipancutter Damn straight, king. Ant played Pointcrow like a fiddle.
Marzipancutter 2 aylar önce
@Juan Atristain I see what you're saying, but I wouldn't hold it against Crow. For most people, analyzing more than two layers deep on someones mindgame will just leave them completely clueless and even more confused. At that point even trying to do it is making them even more vulnerable, so trying to keep it simple is more or less the best counterplay option you have, as it limits how deep the other guy can get in your head. (I've been there too, of course) Of course, this one *isn't* as well thought out as I make it seem, it's just that overthinking or gettting into a thought loop in the past likely ended up destroying their mental game even worse so they learnt to avoid it. The alternative would be even worse. Also, remember that in Ants video we only get crows side edited in as it relates to the way he responds to whatever ant is pulling off currently. Crow is still trying to beat the game regularly on his end. Pointcrow is still decently entertaining, I'd say. His thing is usually doing challenges that are more hilariously stupid than ridiculously hard, so he's a bit out of his element here. I'd also go as far as saying PointCrows streams would be significantly *less* entertaining if he had that kind of mental game as chats ability to throw him off is kind of a feature, not a bug.

When Ant was getting the ralts I wish I could have told him my experience with Skitty. I literally use it’s spawn point as a training area to level ramp and in literal years of playing emerald over and over again I’ve never found a Skitty there. My buddy went and downloaded the same emulator and same copy of emerald and immediately went and found 3 almost back to back

@Enccy “stop being so small minded” continues to be small minded by saying that that Ant would have “won” by a larger margin. Dude this was literally just for fun and content lmao it’s amazing how pressed some of y’all are

This seems like it would be so much fun to do especially with a gen you’re super familiar with so for me probably just fire red

Right? big brain of Ant because it evolving into Crobat means it would outspeed anything he came up against as well and would make it beating most of the gym leaders super easy without having to waste time grinding levels

And it’s especially strange that Crow didn’t do something like that considering he did actually catch some early victory road pokemon in his solo attempt at this randomiser.

Even with the “softlocks” of Pointcrow you still did win, and all the strats were actually amazing
Dr. D
Dr. D 2 aylar önce
@Thunderking A if you can leave by dying then its not a softlock. It's not about Ant making up definitions. That is literally according to the definition of "softlocked". If you are able to escape a softlock by dying, then it's not a softlock. by definition Ant was correct.

My favorite part was when crow kept lying about having a rayquaza so small ant almost out of irony and a pinch of spite caught it with hundreds of pokeballs later and swept with him . Also I learned something new! I didn't know Goldeen learned that naturally
