I think with all this extra time we have on hands now, we should be looking to explore our bodies further as any of you ever attempted to split? why not set a new goal as she did, learn to split it can be done within 4 weeks there are channels with how to stretch tutorials online like mine that can guide you in achieving that.

this is great! once you’ve accomplished this version the next step is from a straddle sit, which is very difficult and what gymnastics use to condition. Good luck!

Really great tips! I especially like the drill done from the floor with the hands on the wall to really give the feeling of the full range of motion of the legs and hips even for people who don't have the arm strength yet. I also really liked how clear your postural "do" and "don't" cues are. I have nowhere near your strength or flexibility, but I can do a jump handstand from down-dog. The one tip I have that isn't in your video (or maybe it is and I didn't hear it) is the concept of "push down to go up." I start from soft elbows and as I exhale and firm the core, I emphasize pressing the hands down into the floor; that makes the legs go up with much less effort. Again, I'm working from a jump rather than a press because I don't have your flexibility or strength, but I wonder if it might also be useful in the context of a press and would be interested to hear what you think. Great channel. I subscribed.

Yes! I do love that tip and it would have been great to include! I'm sad I didn't think of it at the time. I talk a little bit about pushing tall in my handstand tutorial but you are 100% right. It is a huge part of the press! Thanks so much for the comment and for watching this video! I will definitely have to add that to my future videos!

Great video and I love the ease into it tips. Other videos are pretty aggressive. Press handstand is my holy grail of fitness and I just simply can't get there. I know I have the strength to support my body weight but for me, it's balance and flexibility that I lack. Perhaps there is far more core involvement in this than I initially thought. My quest will continue. Thank you so much for this - glad I found you!

Very good instruction I love the way you emphasized getting the thighs into the core I adore the puppy press and I felt the lift when I did it and I think this is really going to help me thank you so much

I think these are really accessible for me at my current level. I believe the hollow body/round back tip is the most helpful also the tip about starting with feet closer together in order to stack the hips. I can’t wait to do this tonight! Especially that first exercise🔥🙀

Thank you so much! I’ve seen other videos and all that taught me is the beginning part but this is different and really helps me learn the rest of it. The only problem I noticed is myself xD. My arms are too short and for the beginning I can barely get my legs higher and the exercise helped me. But then, I can’t life my feet off :/ Any tips? I might not be flexible enough but I can get my hands flat down in a standing up pike.

As soon as I saw this video I thought, "I'll do it tomorrow" but then I decided to do it right away bcuz I was eager to try it and didn't want to change my mind the next day. This was very helpful and fun to do! It seems the thing I need to improve on the most is strengthening my hips. Thanks!

Thank you so much for the tips!!! Try practising without shoes. Your body will automatically ground easier making the stacking process easier. Makes the energy flow better :)

When you do the drill off the floor standing, without the wall- imagine a string is attached to your tail bone and is being pulled up to the ceiling. Might help 🌸

These are great. My press journey is constantly changing due to injuries always setting me back (I used to be a gymnast and pole vaulter). The fourth exercise, practicing the press away from the wall, change that to stepping forward when you lift your hips/feet up instead of just staying in one place!! It will help you keep the hips up instead of them just falling back down !! let me know if you try/like it. It honestly it the main drill that gets me to my press (you can do it feet together too for a harder variation) ^-^

Excellent progressions, you definitely know the biomechanics of Press-Handstands. To add on more fun progressions, you can also do Planche-Presses and Block/Table Press-Hips Up. Ps. Great point on having your feet closer together - hips higher and closer to hands = easier 😉👍

Thanks so much I have been working on handstands for almost 4 months and still am absolutely garbage. What point should I be able to start this, and what’s the best way to gain the flexibility. And strength I can get into press position but don’t feel like I even have the muscle I would need workout to do the press into handstand

It is SO helpful when you show you not doing a technique (e.g. compression) and then doing it. Most people only demonstrate the technique and not the lack of technique, and it makes a big difference to my ability to see what you're actually doing when you compare the two. Great video - thank you!

A tip for your handstand in general is if you lock your elbows ( turning them to face forwards) it helps you stay more strong and neat. It's so hard to do I can't really do it but when I do get it, it helps so much I know this from some professional hand balancers.

I have been trying to do a press head stand in Yoga and never really thought about trying this first. When I practice handstands which is not too often. I usually go with the technique where I walk into them lift in the air briefly and come down. Much like the last one you show but more movement based. I don't have that much hang time.

I just saw the movement that's going to help me a lot - using the yoga ball. I don't know why it didn't dawn on me already. Instead of going up a three step ladder, I can more closely get my core muscles simulating the move into a handstand position. Thanks.

Ok, amazing commentary on how to do a press to handstand. Will definitely work on my stretching abillity. I think for men this skill is a little harder to master, since it aquires so much flexibility. And the hardest part for me is becouse I tend to fall down first to the plance position and then try to press. I guess more stretching and less falling down with my bum will somehow help me to get this skill eventualy :) Thanks for the video

Tips for training that I try myself but I first want to be able to make a simple handstand: pike handstand, shoulder mobility(shoulder stretching), middle split stretching (hip mobility), adductors training, frog stand for wrists, abs, shoulder and triceps strength and handstand against the wall.

interesting drills. I always tried to approached this from a balance than a flexibility challenge. Using the wall as a check. It seems like you have your balance right from the get go.

Blanca García Hi!!! Make sure your free standing handstand is solid before attempting without the wall. If you want to continue practicing drills I would do the small lift from straddle without the wall. That drill should really help build even more shoulder strength so that eventually the rest will be easy!

I've literally been working on my middle splits for 2 years. I stretch 4 days per week. What are the key stretches to get this? I'm already doing a flat pancake stretch (belly to the floor) if I warm up for at least 30 minutes before attempting. Anyway what's the next step after that. I can't be that far away.

If it's been 2years and you were consistent in your training, maybe your hips just can't do the middle split. Everyone should be able to do the right and left splits, but some will never be able to do the middle because of the position of their hips

I am able to do a simple HS against the wall.However, I have two challanges which I i could use suggestions on: 1) Weak wrists that i would like to strengthen 2) Same with finger strength and hands. Compression (mobility when you boil it down) is my problem. I can handstand, I can press handstand too, but it ends up being more of a planche to handstand. If I had more mobility I could straddle and pike press. But I'm a 30 year old dude learning how to do all this so that eventually when my 2 year old daughter starts gymnastics I can hopefully be involved and learn right along with her. I need to work on my mobility more than I do, I just feel like it's time wasted. I never seem to get any more flexible.

I appreciate your lead ups, a lot. What did it for me however was to stand on a mat edge, and then latter on the low side of hugger mugger yoga blocks. And I went right up.This is assuming that the compression is second nature. NIce hollow body.
