@Vincent Ammeraal Thats a gigantic mansion. Millions plural, maybe not if he saved enough on materials and labor with sponsorships and volunteers, but you don't go low end materials on a house like this. The cost/sq ft is much higher than a normal home. Combined that with a complete overhaul of the outside, this very much cost as much as building the mansion from scratch. 5600 sq ft was the original design and I think he did an addition? It's been a long time since i watched it. But yes this probably cost millions. Again he probably saved a lot with labor and materials, but that labor still has value and is a cost. Just not in $ out of their bank account.

You got a lot of views and likes from this entire project. WE NEED MORE. I would honestly love a video of you walking around the entire property with random thoughts of what you've wanted to do more with the house and the surrounding areas and what plans are in the works or what plans were scratched or just random it'd be cool to do that. THAT WOULD DEFINETLY BE AMAZING!
Spaz2 aylar önce
Honestly, my favorite thing about the entire house is that mosaic. The fact that you painstakingly saved that little piece of the house's history and restored it AND hung up it prominently is just poetic to me. Well done, sir!

By far, best part of the video was Mere just CHUGGING her wine at the end! She's like "I'm gonna need a lot more of this for the next chapter!"

Layson Samson4 aylar önce
@The Devils Advocate normally I’d agree with you, but I think the way his family reacts-those are emotions that are VERY hard to fake. Especially the kids’ reactions. With countless celebrities and famous people on the internet, it’s pretty easy to see who’s posing for the internet and who’s actually being real. And out of those celebrities I’d easily say Matt is someone to look up to, based off what we see. I don’t think he would be as successful as he his if it was all fake. I know you’re playing the devils advocate hence your name, but I’d like to think Matt is one of the exceptions. Obviously that line of thinking can be dangerous, especially if you put someone on a pedestal and then some dark revelation is revealed about them. I think those “family” channels are all acted-you can tell those kids are forced to be in them. With these videos it never really seems that way and his kids look like they’re genuinely having fun.
Kathleen J Bazan4 aylar önce
@Mark Leibold Not to mention his dad’s videos, Out on the Ranch”, which gives us a glimpse of how he raised his boys, Matt, Mark, the other brother and sister. They really do seem like a wonderful family that was raised with values and a love of the outdoors. Not only are they veterinarians but they can build, weld and fix almost anything that is broken. It takes a lot of patience and determination to accomplish what Matt and Meredith did, heck she was very involved in some of the physical work with the nail gun.
Mark Leibold4 aylar önce
@The Devils Advocate I have been thinking about what you have typed. I agree that judging someone from only media that they release is a bit silly. However, you can't fake the look in Meredith's eyes when she looks at Matt. You can't fake the way the kids run to him and tell him about all the things that go on in their day. Between this series, Demolition Ranch and Off the Ranch there is so much footage of the family interacting. I just don't think you can fake it that long. If he did that's incredible. Additionally, there are things that Matt could leave in his videos that he doesn't. He protects his family in that way. As much as I agree with you, as a rule of thumb, I think that the OP is correct in his assesment.
The Devils Advocate4 aylar önce
I always find this kind of comment interesting. You've never known the man or his family and have never had a relationship with him behind the camera. Yet you've made a judgement on his character, and I have no doubt you believe what you say 100%. Did you know that this is how you make sheeple? You see things on a screen. You've never met them. You've only seen controlled public media released only by the party you're watching. Yet, you've come to that very conclusion. Nothing against you friend. I just wanted to have an exercise in enlightenment :)

I still remember the first episode, thinking there's no way you're gonna get this done, but after seeing it stripped to the framing, it was going to be completed. The surprise was when you decided to keep it, congrats! This series has inspired me to start work on my house that was severely damaged in the Northridge 94 quake, I had about 75% of the work completed before having my first heart attack. It has been a struggle through the years, but I'm now determined on completing some of the unfinished plans, in which I built the entry gate and patio cover over the front walkway to my house.
Matt Rohaly5 aylar önce
@Bruce's Buzz damn man!!! I would love to say I’ve been through more… (lighting strike)… but you Sir are a warrior! 2 years, or 30+… keep on brother! Much love from Humboldt County.
Bruce's Buzz5 aylar önce
@Matt Rohaly Had a contractor do most of the exterior work after the quake, but the interior I did everything. I really enjoyed making upgrades to my taste, but after the first heart attack it put me in a financial bind and work had to stop. I've had a total of 7 heart attacks and currently being evaluated for a transplant (15% EF). I strive to stay active and won't let my condition hold me back, if you met me, you'd probably think I look totally fine, which I am to a point, my stamina usually last for 5 to 10 minutes before I have to rest, so it's been a slow steady process.
