Great work! Awesome 8M views in 2 weeks! I honestly did not think this engine would look so good after seeing it straight out of the ocean, and getting it running is incredible. The starter was so crusty, the first thing I thought was "there is no way that thing is going to work again". I'd love to see you build something around this engine, it seems fairly powerful.

This was one of the most pleasurable videos I've seen ever. Your vision for the engine is very impressive and your mechanical abilities are excellent. Whenever I see engines and or parts, cars etc. that are in need of repair rebuild, I wonder why more people don't refurbish them. Great job!

Alberto Olmos

This teaches us that before throwing something into the sea we could think about repairing it or sending it to a recovery center, which would greatly simplify the work of these mechanical geniuses, and helping many people who need cheap refurbished equipment.

I looked at the title and thought here we go again, but WOW! I'm truly impressed at the level of attention one guy put into restoring a typically non-salvageable engine. A true testament to the man's skills. I am curious to know how long the restoration took to complete and was the engine since being restored put back into active service? 👍🏻‍

I'm a fully trained vehicle tech, and was throwing spanners for 30 plus years, but the way this guy did this, with minimal tools, was pretty amazing. You could tell his dedication in one part which showed his bleeding knuckle! Surprised that he used the open end of the spanner so much, instead of the ring, but, hey ho, if that's what he likes, then so be it. Just imagine what this guy could do in a fully equiped workshop, and I don't want to sound disrespectful, but he is probably a lot more skilled than most "western world" machanics in garages. The thing is, after watching various films and clips on youtube, there are many many people that are probably self taught that can repair, fix or even jury rig things that would be way beyond today's "mechanics", who are not much more than computer competent people who just replace complete units that the diagnostic equipment (costing hundreds of thousands of pounds) tell them to. He reminds me of the time when i started in the trade, when you used to repair things, instead of just replacing complete units....In the youth speak of today, this guy is "old school"! Really enjoyed watching this, keep up the great work, my friend.

I cant imagine the motor was under the water for that long ..amazing job of rebuilding it and getting it running..apparently it appeared you reused the original oil filter which would have been contaminated..of course the turbo unit would be unusable and not a canditate for rebuilidng as the impellers would be seized.

Snake_ Hole
Snake_ Hole 4 aylar önce
@Minh Huu Nguyen at any given time there can only be one cylinder where the valves would be be closed, not allowing water in three would be open to the water, allowing the insides of the cylinders to look just like the outside of the block. the oil wouldn't protect the insides forever.

This is insane. Most people would never even attempt this. I'm amazed that someone would just dump it at the beach. That is an amazing engine and it would be suitable for a small car or tractor, especially with the turbocharger attached. I think you should start a Go Fund Me for a sandblaster and/or glass bead blaster that would speed up the process of cleaning the parts. There is an attachment for my Karcher powerwasher that converts it to a water-powered sandblaster. just dip the tube in a 5-gallon bucket of sand.

The engine had cables still tied with duct tape, and they were standing tight. That means it was for short under water, tho the sea creatures pointed otherwise. So my guess is after a year or two, it went running again, or even after a few months. Still amazing though !

You were incredibly lucky to find that this engine had so little internal corrosion. The evidence is that it had been in the sea for at least 10yrs in my opinion, but the internals had not suffered at all. There was no water in the sump, gear casing, or the cylinders. I have seen far worse corrosion than this inside engines that have been left outside for 5yrs where water has been allowed access through the manifolds. But never mind this. Well done on trusting your natural instincts that this engine was worth saving.
James Nebraska
James Nebraska 2 aylar önce
No, there is no evidence it was in salt water for 10 years, barnacles grow much faster than you think, at most it was a few weeks. I don't doubt it sat outside unprotected for some time, but it did not sit "under the sea for many years". Don't let the external condition cloud your mind, internally this was in excellent condition and had no sign of salt water corrosion at all. An engine with a few months of rain water in the cylinders will look far worse than this. When the pan came off, what did you see? You saw a bottom end entirely covered in oil. What you should have seen is a bottom end entirely rusted up - remember, oil floats on water, put water in an engine and it makes its way to the bottom.

This is phenomenal. So a boat was presumably beached and it slowly fell apart depositing the engine at the water's edge. Its when you see the engineering that made the engine that you realise how valuable & saveable these things are but it takes a special person to do this much effort - if I tried this I'd end up with a HUGE pile of nuts & bolts and not have a clue where they go!

A lot of you don’t realise that in Vietnam, there’s two facts at work here. One, these kinds of engine are frequently used on power boats over there. So it’s very likely one sank and that’s why it was found. Secondly, a lot of excellent recycling happens in Vietnam, as the import costs on things like cars is extremely high (why many people ride motorbikes there). Maybe get out into the world a little more if you don’t understand it? To the creator, cảm ơn nhiều lắm, bác năm.

Having grown up on the Texas Gulf coast, the engine looks like it was under water for many years. As the years went by, it sunk into the mud, which actually helped it from rusting away. To think that this was placed under watch at the beach just to make this video, is just ridiculous. Great work!
