Canadian phenom Connor Bedard strung together the best scoring performance at a world junior hockey championship in 20 years, leading his country to its 20th gold medal! Here are some of Bedard's best plays of the tournament

The fact it required a 13 minute video to have all of bedards highlights from 1 tourney is insane !

@Tek Buck you think he’s better than Wayne? Thanks for confirming your parents are brother and sister

It mostly just says that TSN put wayyyyyyyy too many replays in there. This would have hit much harder if it was just live-action speed the whole way through. Obviously Bedard is ridiculous and could fill tons of reels...just sayin...

I can't imagine the pressure off ice and on this kid must face. The best highlight is his gold medal post-game interview where he didn't want to talk about what he accomplished, he wanted to talk about what the team accomplished. A class act already at 17, and a credit to his parents and hockey organizations. (rumour has it Slovakia is still looking for 4 jocks)

@Cody S It totally is our standard though. Look at Tavares, Crosby, McDavid.. all unselfish and borderline boring
cory 2 aylar önce
It's not just the shots he takes, but the shots he doesn't take despite knowing he has a scoring chance. He trusts and respects his teammates.
FrankD14 2 aylar önce
Those no look passes are seriously another level. He makes a pass look like a scary shot
xSupreme 2 aylar önce
One thing I like about Bedard is the amount of grit he has. Crosby is similar, both are highly talented players who aren't afraid to make grunt level plays. Crosby recently went feet first into the boards to keep a puck in the offensive zone and Bedard at the world juniors dove to sweep the puck onto his teammate's stick. These types of plays are what separate the greatest from the great.

@invictusanimi I agree, insane hand-eye coordination which truly is what makes elite players stand out. Remember when Crosby batted for goals out of mid-air?
invictusanimi 2 aylar önce
You mention that time Bedard dove to pass the puck. Even more magnificent was the defensive dive when his stick was purposely upside down to knock away the puck on a breakaway. I rewinded to that 10X, and I am still speechless.
LunarBunny 2 aylar önce
Yet he’s still very humble, which is something I always admired with Crosby. Hopefully he carries that humility into the NHL

That diving hook saucer pass in the final game left me speechless.

Yet to see someone so good at hockey while flying through the air. He scored a goal with the Pats in his first or second game ever where he Bobby Orr'd the crease and golfed the puck mid air as it bounced off the ice into the top corner. I swear I heard a moose jaw fan scream like someone had been shot out of pure disbelief lmfao.

iambraveru 2 aylar önce
This kid holds the stick the proper way. His left elbow is out giving more flexibility and quicker reactions with the puck. Turn pivot shoot much quicker than the arm against the body. When the arm is against the body it restricts passing shooting etc. some players to pass to there off side will need to turn there entire body in the direction of the pass. Amazing hockey player.

Heard a lot of hype about this kid, but after watching these highlights, I think it's safe to say it's not overstated. Excited to see how he'll do in the NHL. Still pretty young, but these highlights are reminiscent of the Jack Hughes prospective highlights to me. You never know how they'll do off the bat if they join and start playing so young, but I think he's got a bright future.

Michael Shields 2 aylar önce
@B3N Your original statement was nonsensical, "being good in juniors has zero translation to the NHL." Really? Zero translation would mean that nobody who was good in juniors was ever good in the NHL which is obviously a dumb statement as a good percentage of the stars in the NHL tore it up in juniors. If you wanted to make a bit more sense you could have said not all players who produced big numbers in juniors ended up being stars in the NHL which is true. Jonathan Drouin is a good example of that. What Bedard is doing is a step above what Drouin did though. Going back through the past 20 years, there are only 2 players who put up comparable numbers to Bedard in their age 17 seasons: Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid.

Canada outshot every team they played by a wide margin, except the Yanks... and they scored 5, plus an empty net on them... Bedard also scored really big goals, never mind the huge percentage of Canadian goals he had a hand in...Milic was great and they wouldn't have won without him either, but he wasn't even the tourney's best goalie... Both Slovak & Czech goalies outshone him...Bedard was Canada's, plus the tourney mvp... sans doubt...

I was initially skeptical about Bedard, and until after the world juniors, never really saw him play. I never expected someone under six foot could give McDavid a run for his money - but it turns out, Bedard uses his lack of height to his advantage, lower center of gravity. He's not McDavid-fast, but he does have McDavid's smarts - and instead of speed, he brings grit and a rapid shot.
Theophilus 2 aylar önce
There's no guarantee any of these young players will be a success in the NHL...Bedard's chance of making it are excellent. Let's just hope he isn't buried out west and we never see him. That's happened too many times.
