Also to note, the wallet had a clip, so opening it with one hand would be a lot harder, and since he’s holding a gun he has to make a choice between keeping the gun on this stranger or look into the wallet. You’ll notice Leo’s character Frank makes that conscious choice to hand him the wallet instead of opening it himself, since it looks like an “act of trust” to give your wallet to someone. Trick was that was one of hundreds of burn wallets he had stashed
