"Not possess the East" )) this is an explanation of a 21st century illiterate person. in the 19th century they spoke "in the way (get along-make friends) the east", i.e. "in friendship and openness with the East and Asia and their countries". this is the exact opposite of owning the east.))
@langedocalgvazil8903 2 yıl önce
Floks 700 - The name of the city "Vladivostok" is translated from Russian as OWN, to rule over the East😋 - although, if you really want to, you can paraphrase this name and as "To be in harmony, in harmony with the East." Russia has two such cities with similar names - Vladivostok in the Far East and Vladikavkaz in the North Caucasus. The name of this second city can be translated as "To own, rule over the Caucasus" - or, "To be in harmony, in harmony with the Caucasus". There is a funny ambiguity in the definition of these names.😎 There is also a third city in Russia with a similar name, it is called "Vladimir" and this city is about a thousand years old, its name can be translated as "To own the World, to rule over the world" - but you can just see in this name one of the old Slavic male names - this also has a certain initial ambiguity.☺

Thank you for a great documentary! I have been thinking recently that Vladivostok must be an intriguing place to live for Europeans at the time when the world centre of gravity is moving to Pacific. Literally European city in the Far East. You answered most of the questions I had. I agree with your conclusion that the city looks under managed, but great to see people taking matters into their own hands, especially wrt. cleanup. Russia should do more about the roads and infrastructure, beyond the bridges which seem to have been done primarily for the show.

I really appreciate that you took the time to interview locals and tourists alike. When I visited Kyrgyzstan and Kazakstan, the locals expressed the same sentiment- these lesser known Russian/Former Soviet regions just want to share their pride of joy of their cultural identity with the world. It's unfortunate when government fails to step up to do more for its people- something as simple as enough trash cans and national park maintenance. Considering Vladivostok's unique geographic location to Asia and the Pacific Ocean too, it can be so much more. Thank you for this wonderful video that got to the heart and history of things.

Outstanding video of Vladivostok! Absolutely one of the best videos I have seen in my research for this city/area! I hope to visit it when I ride the Trans-Siberian Railroad !

Greetings from Western Australia. Is my dream to go to Vladivostok and take the train to Moscow and then to Paris and Cannes for the film festival. I used to think I would arrive there and get on the train but now I see Vladivostok itself is something to see so I'd have to stay there a few days first. Thanks so much for sharing RussianPlus.

That was fascinating! We almost never see anything about eastern Russia. Good to see an honest appraisal of Vladivostok.

Oh man what a great video from Vladivostok. It reminded me of San Francisco for sure. Your videos from Russia are excellent. We really enjoy them and hope you can continue to surprise us with unusual destinations.

Thanks for the video. Impressively good quality. Good to learn more about the Russian far East. I'd like to visit Vladivostok and to drive from there all the way to Europe sometime in the future.

Vladivostok has always been one of my favorite cities. It reminds me of San Francisco where I live near. Both cities are on the Pacific Ocean coast. We have a lot in common!

Hello, started with your moscow documentary, then watched for st petersburg. This is my best. You mentioned the locals were flabbergasted when the city and region received a massive uplift after various requests, I would say I was flabbergasted when I saw how the govt. could do so much in a short period of time! If I compare this city with other frontier cities in other places of the world, I would say its one of a kind.
