@Ingens_Scherz I'm a skydiver... in fairness to the Tandem Instructor, James Corden weights a little bit, this makes it harder to brake as effectively, therefore the approach is to come in quicker so the chute has more lift. In theory it was a good landing...because touch down was soft enough and it was controlled.

It is a completely different thing. In the military the objective is to get on the ground as quickly as possible so you dont get shot on the way down. You have a much MUCH faster speed when you hit the ground.

I know exactly how he feels at 8:30. The day we had our first jump at Airborne school I didn’t think I could move my legs towards the door, but the minute you jump out is one of the most unexplainable feelings and I love it so much!!!!

Underrated Top Tier Actor. Tom truly Masters each role/character in every movie which ranges in a multitude of cinematic genres. From his demeanor & poise to stay in character to performing his own life risking stunts, he truly wants to give the viewers/audience his ALL and he always delivers for the true essence of what film making is which is the expression of art through acting and storytelling so the viewers/audiences can be entertained for a short moment of time. I truly have him ahead of Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Matt Damon, Keanu Reeves, Edward Norton, and even Jared Leto. (Who are all great actors and have their own accolades) but Tom Cruise just captivates his roles in a more dexterous and compelling way. I only wish he would’ve starred in more movies with Hollywood’s Top tiers of directors such as Martin Scorsese, Quentin Terintino, James Cameron, Alejandro González Iñárritu, and Christopher Nolan. But regardless, his movie catalog list is still great.

It wasn't to keep him from looking down. It's to help him achieve the arch position upon exiting the plane. Every tandem jump has to put our heads all the way back and arch our bodies upon exit.

I did this earlier this year thanks to a pilot who took me up in his own 2 seater biplane. Upside down flying, Backward loops 1/4 turns and soaring the low revs vertical drop. I was the happiest I have ever been what a thrill. Please Tom / James I want to experience this again in a fighter jet.

Putting the comedy value of this aside, but make no mistake that Tom Cruise puts the safety of others his utmost No.1 priority. There is a video on TRshow where Howard Stern interviews James Corden in regards to this. James explained that TC interviewed several people to find the right person to tandem with James. James also mentioned that TC did a jump before he arrived to ensure the conditions was safe for him. Kudos to James Corden, because this was not only funny but absolutely amazing! Tom Cruise is an all time legend

I did a tandem skydive when I was 21. It's amazing. So loud, so cold, so exhilarating. Then when the chute opens - it's so quiet! Just the sound of the silk fluttering. Doing lazy circles, enjoying the view, and wishing you could stay up there forever. I only ever did it the once (the cost of getting a solo jump license put me off at that age) but it truly is an unforgettable experience. And nowadays you'd likely get GoPro footage to remember it by too! nothing like that back in ye olden days :-D
