3 Levels Of Samplings: How To Become A Master Sampler | Today, I walk you through the 3 different levels of sampling, and the techniques associated with each level when you are making beats.

By no means do you want to do master level techniques every single time. There is a time and a place to be more simple. This video is just meant to show you how to develop your skills and improve at sampling.

Even though this video was made using FL Studio, this can still apply if you are using Ableton, Logic, Garageband, Maschine, or any other DAW!

The interface is the biggest obstacle. The process is very straightforward. But engineers love to hide parameters in different levels of shift commands that stall inspiration.👽

I just time stretch to 4 8 16 or 32 then choose my own bpm. It's probably simpler and definitely faster. (For beginners help). Double click sample and you'll see a "time" wheel it'll stretch the sample accordingly regardless of what bpm is set

I always loop the sample into the BPM and meter of my song. Then I can rearrange them as I want. Even turning a 5/4 Latin rhythm into a 4ttF. J Dilla pioneered and mastered this technique AFAIK.

There’s something called Polytonality. It’s when there are two or more instruments playing in two or more different keys at the same time. The sampling techniques are spot on. And it’s overall a great video for sampling and sampling techniques; but the sample you used has polytonal attributes. I hear three instruments(please correct me if I’m wrong). I believe I hear a vibraphone, a harp (playing altissimo), and maybe a mellotron emulating a bowed instrument. It sounds like I’m the sample(after you pitched it down) The harp is playing a descending G minor triad, starting on the root. But when it reaches the Bb, the composer added the second degree, for the rub. So, the harp is in G minor. The mellotron is playing F# G F# A Which can put it in G or A or E but logically analyzing it, it’s in D Major. And the Vibraphone is playing the notes B and C# Which you can’t really discern a key center with only these two notes a whole step away from each other, but I’m going to be safe and say it’s in B major.(could be B minor or any other key that has these two pitches with out any alterations) And you make the 808 play F# So in total: there are 4 different tonalities going on at the same time. Again, The video is awesome and the production values on the video is top notch to say the least, but the sample isn’t a good sample for a tutorial. I appreciate you going outside of the box and finding different samples but this is not good.
