Absolutely... I didn't expect that he'd be setting up electricity. Just as I was thinking he was done, he'd bring in something else. Phenomenal. The channel deserves to be monetized if it's not being done so. All the things that he brought to our attention, like the water dispenser, the photo cell kit, the electrical converter, the stove. Simply amazing stuff.

this is amazing. am I wrong to hope for under bed storage? lol. at no point did i misunderstand what was happening or need explanation. absolutely loved the progression of not only the complexity of the home, but the comforts that came with time. not to mention meeting the needs of changing weather. The videography is equally as amazing in this respect as all of this was conveyed without text or verbal explanation. and i loved all the outdoor ambiance. absolutely stunning.

This is an amazing little log cabin, Alex! I know we only see a fraction of the work you did on this build but I'm impressed that you did so much alone. Did you get stung but the Stinging Nettles while building your cabin or did you just brew them for tea? I think I would have cleared them out to avoid getting stung but you're probably more used to them than I am. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your hard work! 😁👍

The eve looks better with the end of the logs exposed. The charred flat slabs were nice, but this way, it looks like there is more headroom and, in my opinion, looks nicer. However, overall, I like the construction, the detail of showing the build, and the overall look of the cabin. Looks beautiful, great job.

Yeah I miss this too. Growing up I was surrounded by wild life and often went fishing had my own cabin where ever I went etc but then one day I had to move, got random jobs and was stuck helping my relatives in a city, lost all that touch to do something in nature, my father became an alcoholic sick and died, all his land and property took the govt due to debts so I never inherited anything we had from our ancestors, thanks to my father ... Today buying any property is unrealistic and if you build something ilegaly you will be taken into prison etc. And if you think you can hide forget about it, military and the police all have thermal cams, drones etc they find you even if you are underground. Environment so as town drastically changed too in the past 15 years. The closest wild patch where I live is now closed off to the public, it's sort of like a wild life preservation park and is illegal to enter, the other sides have changed into factories and the rest is filled with immigrants from middle east. I could never again feel safe being in the wild alone or build anything, I would be attacked day one ... Europe is not safe anymore, on one hand NATO and parasitic western culture is destroying us on the other side these muslim immigrants. So no matter how smart you are or whatever we are outnumbered and the law isn't on our side too always under some sort of attack and oppression. I am honestly thinking of moving to Russia, since I am genuenly fed up with Europe, USA so as lots of other places where I could go but have zero future or anything.

I love the work and the result. I totally agree about the sounds of nature and enjoy that you included moments of them in your awesome video. I have to ask though what will this all look like in 10 years? There's plenty of fungus in the ground that will love to chew the logs and having said all that, maybe a ten year life is fine. We don't really know the species of wood that you used and maybe it's rot resistant?

The main problem is with a dugout cabin is if it rains it can flood so either make some hollow pits in the dirt under it so water will go under instead of in or make a trench thats large that is 4 feet or more deep so water will flow out of the cabin.

Not taking away from anything you've done in your videos - these little shelters are fantastic & so inspiring! I do want to ask about the wood used for this project - I assume much of that was prepped in advance of this build. How long did that take? About how many trees were needed for this? Aside from that question, do you rent these shelters out after they're finished, or can hikers use them for free? Also, can you please provide links to the portable solar cells used in this video. The Energizer battery box should be easy enough to find.

Thanks for asking this. I saw the timber used and noticed it was processed, having all branches and bark removed ahead of construction. I imagine that would be a laborious task if modern equipment was not brought out to the site for the debarking. I am also genuinely curious what steps were taken and what tools were used. I'm sorry the best of the internet isn't in your replies. Good luck with any woodland projects! It's nice to know I wasn't alone in thinking about it.

Pretty cool! I liked how he taught how to do the logs and truly how most anyone could accomplish this by themselves if the need or desire came to be. I think this would be cool if one had the land for teens to do. And the reasons are many. 🤔 As for that I think kids should be taught financial wisdom as well as basic nature survival measures in early public education. This would be great for middle and high schoolers projects. Yes it would have to be changed and tweaked for the area lived but still the value in knowledge is none the less. I got a chuckle from his grunts as he took his first bite of food each time 🤣 then as the place took on better form his meals did too. ✌🏼

Question: where did the logs come from? Did you harvest the timber yourself? How long and by what method did you dry them?

They appear as a kit wherever you need them :) But then they are packed with dirt not the clay, no damp/waterproofing.

That's a really good question, where DID all of these exactly the same length and width perfectly cut logs appear from? 🤔 Presumably the same truck that brought all of the other materials 😂

Right? Had to scroll forever to find this. Comes out with a backpack, suddenly shovel, axe, nails and tarps. Google the plans. Not to mention all the camera equipment to do multiple angles. Sigh

I would love this for month or so to reset from all the issues we have that dehumanize us. Im I really bad health or I could spend all summer. Until the snow comes anyways. You did an amazing job on this! Im not what I like more, watching you build the cabin or wayching you, while building the cabin! 😉😍😁 But all seriousnes, really really cool and so relaxing.

Amazing wood working and stamina! Love your film skills and the audio is the very best art. I so subscribed! Your cabin is very cozy and practical❤ What kind of animal is doing the barking noises? Are they birds or something else?
