Alonso in Aston Martin went for 2 pitstops within two laps and managed to keep the P2. No one would have believed this in last season. Man it's just that Alonso podium is becoming as common as Redbull p1.

If his team mate was worth anything Aston would be a comfortable P2 in the standings.
satos14 aylar önce
Alonso and aston martin took a gamble when he first pitted for dry tyres. If the rain had stopped when he went out Alonso would of won the race. Pitted again for intermediates and first place was now gone.. Such is luck.
Mika Peacock4 aylar önce
Alonso keeps getting podium just proves how amazing of an driver he still is, Stroll not even close to the way of driving from alonso. How Aston Martin switched from last year to this year is just amazing with Alonso in P3/P2 as common as an redbull podium.
Hugh Jorg4 aylar önce
Alonso should have won 2010 and 2012 with Ferrari instead of Red Bull's Vettel. These two championships were stolen from him, not to his fault.
Aviation Kid4 aylar önce
@Hugh Jorg Stolen.? 😁 He got smoked by Vettel. 🤣
Flaz/ One4 aylar önce
@Aviation Kide specially got smoked by the Ferrari strategists in 2010 and The 2 Lotus drivers in 2012 especially Romain more than by Seb who had a much faster car

@Hugh Jorg ummm… I wouldnt say that. Vettel was more consistent. Remember in 2010 that Vettel NEVER led the championship until the last race.
Archie4 aylar önce
@Holden Cross Also Vettel had way more DNFs (most of which were mechanical failures) than Alonso

Three notable things that happened this weekend: 1. Perez playing Monaco Pinball with his car (I respect him as a driver, but his racing today was absolutely shocking) 2. No surprise to see Ferrari again botching the strategy again. and 3. Weather RNG-esus being unpredictable again as always. As the old saying goes, NEVER EVER trust the weather forecast. But seeing Estaban Ocon getting a podium is just amazing, now we need to see Nando getting his first win in a decade with Aston Martin, hopefully next week in Catalunya.

Today i realised even more how great driver Ayrton Senna was! Seeing him race in this track with a 1000+ hp car and having only have 1 hand on the steering because of manual gear changes... Just magnificent! In the same time todays rain/wet conditions proved what an achievement it was for him in ''The lap of the Gods'' video. Overtaking - in just one lap - all the great drivers of that era! Remembering Ayrton from Brazil! Senna Sempre

🏁🔥 What an incredible performance by Alonso in Aston Martin! His strategic pitstop decisions within two laps while maintaining P2 is mind-blowing. It's amazing to witness how his podium finishes are becoming more and more frequent, reminiscent of Redbull's dominance. Sometimes we get the feeling that Ferrari is owned by Disney or sumthing. From a far it seems a Ratatouille kitchen. Eighter they are too innocent for it, or are too tempramente to also do strategy. XD so glad Max remained with Honda... much more the philosophy of working from the inside out as to vice versa.

Few surprises in this race: 1. Ocon hold his position from start to end, didn't made a mistake and got on podium, impressive! 2. No red flag or yellow flag at all, but there were quite a few collisions. 3. Was expecting Perez catch-up at least a few position but didn't happen, since people always call him king of street race
Kaimax_614 aylar önce
The street king thing is just because all luck. All his wins is when Max got unlucky.
Jakub Kałaska4 aylar önce
Generally You are right. But there were yellow flags. I was expecting Sergio to get into top 10. (Max in 2018, when he ended his FP3 on the wall, ergo couldn't compete at quali, and also started as #20, finished race at #9, almost 0,5 s behind #8 -> Nico Hülkenberg at Renault) (2018 Red Bull wasn't such killer as 2023 Red Bull) Till last sector of lap #19 Perez overtook 2 drivers... both in pit lane, so no rocket pace
DukeNukem3 aylar önce
@Jakub Kałaska how would Perez be able to move up to p10 on that circuit??! If it was any normal circuit the RB would have pulled up to second place

Monaco Grand Prix 2023 was really fun. The race was more fun because there were so many variables. Verstappen, Alonso, and Ocon ran really well. Ocon was under a lot of pressure from Sainz, but he pulled off 78Laps without making a mistake. That alone was a great driving. Ferrari lost all of them to Benz due to a strategy failure.. The Ferrari of sorrow.. Monaco Grand Prix is a race that can't overtake and slow down, but I think it's more fun than any high-speed circuit when it rains. The current DRS zone is not enough. I hope to renew the circuit design of the Monaco Grand Prix within a few years.

Consistently great driving with both Verstappen and Alonso, Ocon was creating a train most of the race because of the narrow track but it has to be said he really fought hard for his deserved P3. It looked like it was going to be a bit of a boring race at first but the weather took care of that. The Haas breakcheck didn't do Checo a favor and I wouldn't call it clumsy driving on Checo's behalf but of course Checo has been taking quite some risks this weekend that put him in this position, it's awesome when it works out, but this just wasn't his weekend I guess.

For once not having the money to waste on extra channels paid off. This is the Channel 4 team (free-to-air tv, if you're not aware of it); they do the highlights package for all races apart from the whole of British GP (certain sporting events must be made available on free-to-air channels, by law! Everything from that GP to particular football and cricket matches, even the whole of the Olympics and Paralympics). Alex Jacques is the main commentator, and this time he had David Coulthard (he's usually there too) and Alan McNeish. That third position gets changed the most - it's usually hilarious when it's Mark Weber. If you saw the clip of the last couple of laps restart in Baku a few years ago when Hamilton got the braking setting wrong and went off, and there was a high-pitched scream of shock, that was Webber! They've never let him live it down 🤣🤣🤣

Monaco is one of the most challenging track for drivers. They can't lose focus for a second, they have the smallest error margin of all season. And these conditions spiced it even more. Thus said, it is funny to see that ONE driver out of TWENTY seemed not knowing what he was doing on track.

Well, he never was in a position as contender for the title. Even though he’s an experienced driver, he’s tapping into a zone he’s never been in, therefore his clumsy overaggression is feasible. He’s a great driver, but he’s up against Max who had several seasons to hone his skills against the likes of Hamilton to know how to deal with that pressure. I’m genuinely sorry for him, but he won’t beat Max to the title. Nonetheless, his improvement since he joined Red Bull is worth noting. Hopefully he racks up some more wins to make his country proud and eventually be done with it. He just doesn’t have enough talent and experience to fight for a title. Still, cheers Checo for your efforts!

I would like to see Lewis @ Ferrari next year. I think with his influence they would be a contender again.

I think the number of collisions this race explains how big f1 cars have become for a track like Monaco

Thank goodness for the rain to spice things up!!! Starting a petition to have sprinklers installed at Monaco that randomly turn on and off during every race 😀

We were so excited when we saw Alonso diving into the pits for inters. I couldn't believe my eyes when he came out on slicks. What were they thinking?
David Stinger4 aylar önce
They took the risk, see if the rain would leave fast, and didn't pay off.

They had a free pit stop essentially. Conservative approach but I don’t think an aggressive one would’ve made a difference

He would have finished p2 anyways, max and rbr were faster
Tomas G4 aylar önce
@IMIBUKS If he pitted for inters, he would be ahead. Max had a horrible in lap.
Tomto4 aylar önce
@IMIBUKS He would have been in front because he was about 22 sec behind Verstappen after his extra stop. And because of these conditions he would have gained some extra time on the out lap

The amount of confusion and pain I felt when I saw Alonso coming out of the pits...on slicks. I don't know if it's a miscommunication or a gamble, but it backfired. Meanwhile Max showed us yet another amazing drive again. Survived way longer than expected on those mediums, stayed out until everyone else pitted, and managed to keep the car intact in the wet. Deserved victory for him and RB!
