ill say it simply: if Grian never joined i would never get to know how good Hermitcraft is.

Personally, had Grian not joined Hermitcraft, I would have never discovered Scar, one of my current favorite TRshowrs. A lot of Hermitcraft's plot would also be non-existent as a lot of it mostly revolves upon Grian's chaos.

Short Answer: "World Peace, but it would be a lot more boring"

Season 7 likely wouldn't have the whole mayor plot line without Grian, as it started because Grian proposed the idea by placing the Mumbo for Mayor posters around. So without him to start it, it likely would've remained the same as previous shopping districts.

Xisuma said something about it too where Grian really elevated Hermitcraft and honestly without him, I wonder how popular Hermitcraft would be. Deff watch the video Xisuma did where he talks about the progression of Hermitcraft, because it really shines a light on how much Grian had done for HC

Boy I am glad that Grian is in hermitcraft. He was the first hermit I ever watched (one of the first minecraft youtubers to be honest). I only get into minecraft because of hololive, then I discovered Grian at the 2nd to last episode in season7. Then I watched 3rd life and from it I got to know the other hermits plus Joel, Skizzle, Jimmy and the later I found about Dream SMP and the blade, the empire SMP, and the rest of the minecraft youtube community. So I am glad that I live in this timeline 🥰🤣 Edit: season 9 HYPE!!

More importantly, what would have happened to EVO SMP? Grian was running a quite popular smp when he was invited to HC and quite literally abandoned it to do Hermitcraft. Knowing now what we do about how Grian affected HC, imagine a world where he further built up the EVO SMP (and perhaps a follow up after it ended) into one of the major SMP’s, rather than it fading into obscurity.

Grian was the perfect Chaotic spice to add to the server.

I’ve watched Hermitcraft since before seasons were even a thing and I think that adding Grian totally changed the vibe of the server, but was also probably one of the smartest choices they made cos it kept things from getting repetitive and made Hermitcraft way more popular. It’s crazy seeing how many people only started watching when he joined. It’s also nice that there’s more variety among the Hermits in terms of what they’re good at but everyone has earned their place by being REALLY good at it.

Hermitcraft wouldn't be as interesting because Grian keeps on starting civil wars. It would also not have an amazing builder with millions of views and subs

Love him or hate him. His chaotic nature brings more life in to the server.

I've been watching since Evo, and I only watched Hermitcraft because of Grian. I watched since season 6 and I must say, Grian joining probably is what kept Hermitcraft relevant. Maybe Mumbo Jumbo can be in Grian's place, but Grian's chaos is just too encapsulating.

If Grian had not joined hermitcraft, I would have only been introduced to hermitcraft this season though Gem. That would be to much time for me without hermitcraft, and a lot to catch up on.

I've watched since season 4, and when Grian joined the server, it was good to see the hermits enjoy his shenanigans. He brought some light into Xisumas videos and gave us another personality side to mumbo. I could also see Grian doing other videos than just minecraft videos since he did the don't starve together challenge, and he said he's played the game a lot. He's recorded a lot of other videos, so if he wasn't on hermitcraft, I'd say he'd have more of a variety. But thank goodness that is just a theory.

I couldn't imagine a Hermitcraft without Grian. I only started watching HC when Season 6 was about half way, but I'm sure that Hermitcraft would not be nearly as fulfilled without him in it.

I do actually wonder, maybe in Season 6, if Grian didn't join Hermitcraft, and Concorp being a major empire, maybe Mumbo and Iskall wouldn't have made Sahara, but something more similar to Pacific from S7. Only until it affiliates with Concorp, as a redstone based bank/shopping center would be huge. I do think the Civil War and the Build War will still occur, and who knows? Maybe the Area 77 plotline would've taken a whole different storyline altogther.

I really miss evo still sometimes tho :( it was such a creative idea and had so much potential, but we all have to make sacrifices ig

Grian was the first hermit I came across. I didn't know of him before the first few episodes of season 7 where I guess I happened to have chanced upon. Obviously I loved the content and proceeded to watch all of his current episodes out at the time and when I ran out, (maybe checked out a few other hermits, I can't remember) went to watch all of his season 6 presumably (since my memory sucks) after hearing about him first joining in season 6. I finished season 7 as it came out gradually, same with season 8 and like all of you here, eagerly waiting for season 9 :D

Grian is like the one quiet kid in class who is shy but 1 week after his classes he starts pranks, mischievous things, trolls and stuff LOL

I starting watching Hermitcraft in season 5 and I just watched Mumbo's videos. If I remember correctly (and I could be wrong here) but back then people mostly kept to themselves and did their own individual base things without much collab. Sure it was there, but not to the level we see now. When Grian joined, in season 6, that's when I feel the episodes of hermits doing a lot of collabs, pranks, wars, challenges, forming groups, etc had started.

I've been watching Grian since EVO. (Jimmy, too.) If he hadn't joined, I may never have found some of my favorites: Scar, Iskall, and Inpulse. I'd like to think EVO would still be a thing, but I doubt it, as Grian said he didn't leave EVO because of Hermitcraft.

As a Briton I can safely say that it's in our blood to start Empires.

Thank you for making these video's. Last night I dreamed about Hermitcraft, for the first time in my life. I was part of it and invited the hermits over to show them what I had build. Unfortunately, none of the redstone worked and my dream turned into a a very stressful dream... I must be having withdrawals from lacking Hermitcraft in my life! I can't believe I'm seeing this video so late. Oh wait! I wasn't subscribed, but I fixed it!

Sadly I started watching Hermitcraft about one and a half year ago so I didn't know a lot of things he had done... Seems like he made a big impact!

Honestly when I saw his skin for the first time 4 years ago, I ran away in terror from his eyes. 😂 I bounced back and got to love his channel when Hermitcraft 7 came around!

I'd personally be interested if he'd still make some content with Taurtis if he didn't join Hermitcraft. They were my favorite duo. To my knowledge, they're still friends, but Taurtis doesn't really make much content anymore and Grian has moved on to other things. Maybe that could have turned out differently.

I’ve been following Hermitcraft since Season 3 and it is difficult now to imagine the server without him.

I fell when grian joined hermitcraft he gave it more life, by connecting him and mumbo’s base and making lore like the turf war.

I believe he is the best thing that happened to HC. His ideas are excellent.

I started watching grian during the beginning of the Evo series (switched a few accounts around during the time becuase I wanted to be a youtuber but gave up) but then he announced that he was joining an smp called Hermitcraft. I've then consecutively watched every hermitcraft episode of his from the beggining of season 6 to the new season 9. Honestly there was so much fun and laughs and I'd realized that I've never watched a youtuber consecutively for so long, I usually get bored and give up. I always watch his pov during the MCC and there's been a lot of memories.

This is a fun idea! Grian actually came up with the for mayor thing too. The only main thing of the season would have been decked out. And would have fizzled down and been cut inhalf

I feel like Grian really started focusing on big plotlines that can sometimes be great and fun, and other times can be a big problem for the team who has to follow the idea to the end.

I remember when Grian first joined Hermitcraft I was actually annoyed. I was following his other content and didn't want to have to keep up with a whole new series. What a doofus I was. Good thing I pretty quickly realized what I was missing out on.

honestly, i wouldn't have discovered hermitcraft without grian, he's one of the people who made the server very famous to date, also wouldn't have know scar and gem without him, wouldn't even loved minecraft content creator's building counterpart if it weren't for grian, grian is not only a big help to hermitcraft, but minecraft in general

Honestly, if it wasn’t for Grian, I would’ve stopped watching Hermitcraft a long time ago. All of the other Hermits have their own unique personalities and chemistry in their own right, but I was kind of getting bored of Hermitcraft by the end of season 5, it just felt like the same old same old. Grian was just that extra hint of chaos and unpredictability that rekindled that love for the server I had when I started watching.

Honestly, if Grian never joined Hermitcraft I would be in a much worse mental place than I am now

If I remember correctly, Sahara was actually Iskall's idea, IRL, so it might have still been a thing without Grian.

I started watching Hermitcraft because I enjoyed the Evo SMP (I didn't watch SNPs before). A friend had suggested it so I tried out HC by watching the last episode of Mumbos season 5. I planned to watch Mumbo (knew for his redstone videos) and Xisuma (I knew from his videos on Minecraft updates) for season 6. Grain Joining the Hermits was a Bonus and I watched him too. I enjoyed the build totoreals grian put out back in the day. Most of His modern videos follow a different format. I certainly would have watched season 6 without Grian, likely would have watched later seasons as i got to know the Hermits.

Honestly, I do think Grian's addition to Hermitcraft was quite good! I liked and watched Hermitcraft before Grian's arrival but as you pointed out, I do think that Grian fits in there. I can imagine that to some people Grian is annoying and that's fine. His personality and his mischievious things are some times a bit too much for me, too. But I do like the idea and what revolves around it. Grian brings a newer spirit to Hermitcraft without actually forcing anyone to participate on it. I think that's the entire beauty of it. Hermitcraft, nowadays, has so many options and things. It's good to see that it's always fresh and good to watch all the episodes the Hermits release! :)

My theory: Hermitcraft 's popularity would either stay stagnant or grow more slowly because of no Grian. It is very likely that Hermitcraft would still grow in Season 6 and 7 because of other popular TRshowrs like MumboJumbo. Hermitcraft would also remain a lot more like Season 5.

I think Xisuma said it best in his 1,000th HC episode retrospective. Grian joining the server was the missing piece of the puzzle finally coming together

I actually watched Grian before I even owned Minecraft. I was watching his videos when he joined Hermitcraft. If it wasn't for him joining, I never would have even heard of Hermitcraft.

Hermitcraft was actually getting pretty stagnant until Grian joined. Grian brought new ideas and energy. Tag, dig straight down and starting wars for fun. Not to mention the impact he's had on the hermit's themselves. I can honestly say I wouldn't be watching my hermitcraft if it weren't for him. Ps. I've been watching hermitcraft since season 2.
