@@riproar11 was talking about in terms of performance. some of the early models of the Mustang was great as a low altitude fighter, but as an all-around warplane, it just didn't have what was needed. The engine couldn't cope at high altitudes which made it less of a pure fighter. This meant it couldn't take on the roles it was needed for, such as being a long-range escort for bombers. though i'm sure most of those problems were solved when later models were equipped with the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine.

Last year, I happened to meet a former F-14 pilot who now flies Boeing 777s for a major U.S. airline. He was inspired to fly after the original Top Gun and he didn’t think he would be able to be an F-14 pilot. He really loved what he did! At some point, he was ready for a new job and decided to fly for one of the airlines flying passengers. He was super humble to the point where he paid for my hotel bus fee even though I told him he didn’t have to. He embodied the best of what the U.S. Navy has to offer!

The Darkstar does indeed exist. It’s being (as far as WE know) referred to as the “Son of the Blackbird” with its actual name being “SR-72 Darkstar”. It’s 98’ long, with a comfortable operational ceiling of 80k feet (though I’m sure it can go higher), as well as bolstering potential Mach 6+ speeds. It was initially developed to be a UAV with the same missions as it’s predecessor, the SR-71 Blackbird. But that’s legit all us normal folks know about it, or think we know.

When he talked about the F/A-18 Hornet I was a little confused as he said, "A single seat twin engine aircraft" but we see in the movie that some of them are twin seats with a pilot in the front and a Weapons system officer in the back. So are they also F/A-18 Hornet aircraft just with twin seats or are they F/A-18F Super Hornets?
@Murph_gaming

So the f/a-18 superhornet has 3 variants the e which is the single seat the f which is the twin seater and the e-18 g which is the growler ie a superhornet that is exclusively used for sead and electronic warfare. They are all technically the same plane just with sub classes. Think of a car or truck f150 single cab vs super cab vs a crew cab

I got to load armament onto fighters, specialized in 16s, but also loaded on 15s, 10s, and 22s. There's a reason they didn't feature a 22 in that movie, itd have ate everything up with ease. That thing is a total monster...straight out of every opposing pilots nightmares, there's nothing they can do to avoid a 22 deciding to end them. The SU-57 is similar to the 35 but it's not actually a STEALTH jet, it's low visibility, very different. Which is why a skilled 35 pilot could take one down fairly easily and why a 22 would absolutely curb stomp it
