@Scott Andrews true but a lot of people don't stop to consider that rebuilding and restoration aren't synonymous.

Such a salient point, indeed 👌💕 so many videos are ruined by rambling blather and/or overwhelming background music 😳

alot of other channels basically throw out the entire piece and remake it from scratch, not that thats not cool to watch but is it really still an antique if the whole thing was pretty much replaced?

@Poof Those 50s fridges are super inefficient on power and if they have a freezer you have to clear all the ice build-up pretty often and have way less room typically , they look cool and last but really aren't worth keeping around as an every day appliance, unless your like 90

Modern household items are still beautiful in their simplicity and usually well made. But they certainly don't have such a pretty shade of green!

These things were dumped out by foundaries like there was no tomorrow. It's just a box with some cast iron decorative parts screwed together. Cast iron isn't used as much these days, but if you look at the stove tops or barbeque grills - that kind of thing.

@shadowtheimpure With the size of the firebox you could cook anything on that cooker , it will generate a lot of heat . It might even have been on a brick plinth or something to raise it up . Handy to have that latticed top cover , protects from burs and you could have a kettle on there keeping water warm for a brew later
