I've never even built a birdhouse but after watching this I think I'm going to build a double story house in my yard. Hahaha. You make it look easy.

It is fascinating to watch how a small cabin is built. From someone, who knows nothing about building you did a wonderful job. The cabin is beautiful

This is just so perfect, imagine if we didn't have YT, back in the day this would be chronicled in 'nature' magazine or something and we'd get nowhere near the same relaxing experience watching this. Using your head and hands, building for a purpose, out in the beautiful woods, wonderful companion and amazing end result, what could be better really?

This was awesome to watch! Thank you for sharing it from start to finish. Your dog was fun to see in his/her antics so happy to be with you. Your wife must be thrilled! You're right that most everyone would like a cabin in the woods, and I would be among them!

My first TRshow cabin build. I think I picked the best one. The flow of the build, the narration and commentary, the level of detail, and that wonderful dog made it a total Joy to watch. While I may watch other cabin builds, as I move toward building my own, this one is my reference standard. I'm a New Zealander and I have my small off grid cabin here In New Zealand, but man when I hear blue jays in the background of your video it makes me miss America. We don't have them in NZ, and to me they are the sound of the American countryside that I miss the most. Hope I can get over for a while again soon.

The outside looks like board and batten style - my parents' house on the east coast was built that way. It's a really nice look - this whole cabin is fantastic - it's exactly what I'd like for when I retire. Great video!

Great job guys. I like the recycling of products in every way. When you ask around, people are happy to contribute to a noble cause. Q - how long did it take U2 to do from clearing to relaxing? Also, Just a comment on your floor insulation: I have had rodent issues with my cabin doing it that way. From mice to squirrels eating thru the mesh & nesting amongst the insulation. Also having a low to the ground floor does contribute to the nesting habitat. To do up my next one or to a friends, I think I would try ‘foil bubble layer’ across atop all the joists followed by 5/8” plywood Or use a high density foam insulation sandwiched between plywood. Ie. If using 1 1/2” foam would install a 2x4 KD S4S as a perimeter where the load is & to prevent easy access to critters. Basically coping a SIP floor. Your thoughts? Cheers….. Yvon.

I love wood houses but I am really afraid of fire and moisture. In Europe almost all houses are brick, concrete, stone or other type of heavy materials. Of course, in cold areas like North, are many wood houses, just not in towns. You built a beautiful thing. It was a pleasure to watch you at work.

I love all the artistic details on this place. I’d love to spend lots of time there. Nothing like the feeling building yourself. Love the green trim on the windows and the individual trim on the face of the cabin of all the 1x2s. Subtle detail but it really makes it go from just wood siding to more of a craftsman style home.

I'm a retired carpenter and built my log cabin years ago. Can't tell you how many memories we have with family and friends! You and your team do nice clean and methodical work! May you have as many memories as well!

I've never built anything bigger than a bird house, and that was many years ago, yet here I am in my 50's building a small cabin, alone, on the side of a mountain, in a rainforest, on a small island in the Caribbean. Your video has been very informative. I really like the way you framed out your walls and window and door emplacements.

I really enjoyed watching you build that cabin. I wish I knew where it was. It's somewhere that you get snow, so that leaves my area out - in North Carolina right at the South Carolina border. We're lucky if we get 1-2 inches every other year, and it melts right away. What a wonderful gift for Tina; I envy her. You seemed to enjoy it and didn't complain about all the work.
