4 Things You NEED To Know To Make Your Beats Sound PROFESSIONAL | If you have trouble with your beats not sounding professional, it can be easy to blame a lot of things. You might think FL Studio just isn’t good enough, that’s why your beats don’t sound better. You might think the issue is with your mix, and that is the reason your beats sound amateur. If you want your beats to sound good, this tutorial video is going to help you out.

Most commonly, the issue when you are making a beat and it doesn’t sound professional, has nothing to do with using FL Studio or any particular DAW, and most of the time the primary issue isn’t your mix. I walk you through 4 different concepts that you NEED to know if you want to improve your beats and have them sound more professional.

Even though this video was made using FL Studio, this can still apply if you are using Ableton, Logic, Garageband, Maschine, or any other DAW!

Thank you to Malume With The Most for sending this beat in!

When FL Studio crashes on my computer, I know that I’ve added too many sounds to my beat 😄

this video tells the absolute truth, I discovered recently that mixing cannot help to improve a beat if this doesnt sound professional before mixing, even with reverb, saturation etc

I always think, "Once a vocal is on this beat, what sounds will disappear, muddy-up and what sounds will still be heard and compliment the vocal?". Then I start eleminating unnecessary melodies and instruments.

A very great video as always. I used to use sounds out of the box without caring about effects until I saw your video when you were demonstrating how to make a good beat with stock plugins. The other thing a new producer needs to do is to ensure that melodies, bass, etc play the same notes[as the chords] at any given time as much as possible, but not necessarily the passing notes.

This is literally like when an artist uses a beat. The original beat just sounds like a type beat but the engineers and producers who mix it finesse it so good

Very very good feedback on this video. Though I would say that most of this comes down to preference. I noticed the original version chords sounded more “digital arcade” and your version sounded a bit more soft “lead synth (a la Nexus) I enjoyed both but liked the original version better although it did need some mixing work.

Here's my tip, I hope this will help people with the synergy between musical elements in their beats and save them some frustration looking for complementing sounds. This works particularly well with synthesized sounds as I think it gives the most flexibility for this technique. So you have some sounds already laid down in your track but you want to add more. You've been trying different sounds but can't seem to find something that fits with what you already have. Lets say you have your chords written but you are looking for a pluck sound to create a melody to go with the chords, you keep trying different sounds but nothing seems to feel quite right.
