As a fan of all billiard sports, I love seeing this! Like others said, it will be interesting to see Judd against higher skill opponents. Also a thought.. I was surprised Judd used an American cue as well. When Ronnie played away from snooker, he kept using his snooker cue. :D I love seeing players testing themselves!

Yes great to see yet another snooker player playing this type of pocket billiards and my goodness can he play! And I must say on first impression Judd is as fast a player as the Tornado Tony Drago who himself has taken to to the game like a duck to water. So there are other well known snooker players that have played 9 ball to but Tony is by far as I know plays only 9 ball these days. The only other snooker players I know who play 9 ball are Steve Davis, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Jimmy White and the late great Alex Higgins. Alex also had Jimmy as a doubles partner on a few occasions and with explosive results with mind blowing shots! Steve was more famous for "Straight pool " beating the best of the best and Ronny had his own TV program playing pool all over America and lastly Mark Selby played a lot of English pool. Touch and go for a while. I wasn't sure whether it would be a total, or an utter annihilation. In the end it was both.

I can't express how excited I am to see Judd finally come play pool with us. I've followed him and all the other cueists over there for so long. I wish I could have played him to give him a little more of a challenge (but who gives a fuck about me because I'd still lose lol, he will have his work cut out for him in the later rounds anyway). I'm definitely pulling for Judd to at least make the finals

The first couple of days of the US Open were such a drag. Matchroom has been doing such amazing things since before COVID but that was painful to watch.

Props to the commentators on this one, I don't watch pool but I just couldn't refuse clicking on this for Judd's debut. /Spoilers/ Shame he got rolled just after this but it still shows how good of an athlete he is, making such a debut when you haven't played the game before professionally. We expected this much from one of the greatest snooker players ever but I feel Magee was just trying his luck with this open cup, he has no registry of ever being a professional player and I am sure some of us are capable of beating him in a real easy manner. Still, tho, he played through and we can cut some slack when you play against someone of Judd's caliber.

Who ever thought of putting up the footage of trump has hit gold, I can promise you, it's going to get soooo many views and also show the pool guys why he's consider one of the best cue spots plays (not just snooker) of all time...period... Same as mark Selby, former pool WC and multi time snooker WC...it says so much about how good snooker plays an pool plays are but being at the top in snooker means you can just walk into pool an be considered on of the top, because snooker is a harder game which means your technique just has to be better, making the game so much easier for them, especially when it comes to just walking around potting balls lol Anyway just trying to say what a brilliant idea to get trump involved.

Not surprised seeing Judd playing like this. I thought McGee though handled it with grace and good temperament considering.

It does show, though, everyone has their specialism. Trump missed a good number of shots here that he wouldn’t have dreamed of missing on a 12x6 table. It took him time to adapt, even though difference was that the game is much easier.

Honestly, snooker is so much more interesting to watch and is a better game overall. The setup and atmosphere is much better as well. I imagine pool is keeping up mainly because of its accessibility.

It’s crazy that snooker is settled over first to 18 sometimes where you might need to pot 30 balls in a frame, this round you could pot 9 balls and get through to the next round. Does seem to favour luck more than skill with a really short format

The legendary cricketer Donald Bradman became brilliant because he used to practice cricket playing with a stump and a golf ball. Because snooker is played with large tables and small holes it's almost as easy for a snooker player to win a game of pool as it is for a pro golfer to win a crazy golf tournament!

Some of the Brits need to realize that in pool, only the top players are full-time pros. There's no money in pool past the first twenty or thirty places in the rankings. In the early 2010s a friend of mine was friends with the guy who ranked 27th, and he told me the guy had to drive to tournaments and sleep in his car. Most pool tournaments have lots of part time players, amateurs, former pros who have stepped away from the game full time, etc. My friend for instance is a 60+ year old rare book dealer and yet he plays in the pro tournaments that are local to him. I don't know who Joe is but I haven't seen him in a match before. With that said it's just lovely watching Judd on a pool table. He's got such a gorgeous stroke and his long shots are so pure.

An excellent chance for Judd to get some practice in... I think it was sporting of McGhee to just concede at the end.
