I shall start not with description, but gratitude. Gratitude to those, who was saving us from invisible fire, burning down their lives. This film I want to dedicate to each and every liquidator and everyone, engaged with the great tragedy, which occurred at Chornobyl nuclear power plant at the 26-th of April, 1986.
35 years ago, time in Prypiat’ was stopped. It was stopped by explosion at one of the most powerful nuclear power plant in the world. Almost 50,000 people, who lived close by the power plant had to leave their homes in order to survive. Prypiat’ is the sample of town, which was designed for people, with thoughts about their comfort. And this approach still impresses even now. River station with speed boats, which travelled back and forth to Kyiv and Belorussia; exemplary architecture of that period of time - modernism in a perfectly clear shape; walkable distance within 15 minutes to every necessary infrastructure (transport, home, work, educational and entertainment facilities, shops).
Every day radiation is getting disappeared. The same is happening to towns. They don’t have (till now!) any kind of status of monument. That’s why, definitely, no one makes preservation of historical buildings and pieces of art. And nature prevails: it is wrapping great, powerful avenues and exemplary buildings with impassable thicket, pulling concrete blocks of buildings to the ground, making crumbs out of conceptual mosaic plate pictures by Ivan Lytovchenko.
I hereby ask you to watch the film and promise to yourself, that this story, this town, this crime shall always answer in your memory with echo.
