Hours after the dramatic arrest of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, huge protests intensified in several cities in Pakistan with Imran’s supporters thronging the streets of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar, and Mardan. PTI supporters also stormed the Pakistan Army headquarters in Rawalpindi and also burnt down the residence of the corps commander in Lahore. In this edition of Podcast with Smita Prakash, the recent developments and what they mean for India and how they impact geopolitics in the region and globally are discussed in detail with Tilak Devasher, author of four widely acclaimed books on Pakistan and a member of the National Security Advisory Board. The panel was also joined by senior fellow, ORF and an analyst on Pakistani affairs, Sushant Sareen, who also discussed the recent trip of Pakistani FM Bilawal Bhutto to India for attending SCO meeting in Goa and what it means for India-Pak bilateral relations in the near future.

Nope, she is not graceful in changing the topic, is insecure about her beliefs and tries to reinforce them to the guest instead of the other way around. I am not saying she is not knowledgeable, but she certainly is not a good listener. I mean, she responds to her own questions after the guest answers them. She is also rarely effective with mediation while people crosstack, and rather becomes a voice talking over them in the situation. This can be a much better podcast with a better anchor suited for podcasts. She is a damn good journalist, but not a very good podcaster.

I am totally floored by the quality of this discussion. So much to learn and also so many contrarian views without malice or venom. I am so proud to see the panel bring out the real issues and focus on what is best for Bharat. It is also a time to recount the events as they have happened since 1960s to put in context the Prime Ministers of Pakistan and the Pakistan Army. I could listen to this for hours hours and still sit glued to the channel. SmitaAkka and the panel.. dhanyavaadah, pranaams and namaste to you all !!!

Sushant is 100% right, Hindus can’t handle hard truths. Hindu-Muslim love and all that BS. It’s this inability to accept reality that caused Hindus to suffer thousand years of slavery. This is the big difference between Hindus and Europeans. Two references would suffice: Stern Reckoning by GD Khosla, and the book on ethnic cleansing of Punjab by Ishtiaq Ahmed.
@rahulvats95
@rahulvats95 6 aylar önce
It stems from political inability of Hindus. Gandhi-Nehru decided to spread their message and push their narrative by serving discounts to other community and Hindutva and revolutionaries said they would build the political Hinduism and face the truth. Both strategies were meant to shield and protect Hindus.

It's time to take a page out of the winner's playbook i,e Westerner's way of winning, and apply it on Indian national challenges. As the presenter has a background in the military, I believe that it will be an enlightening experience for you. Our relationship with China chiefly revolves around border concerns, therefore, enhancing border security would give us an edge in competing with them beyond just the Indo-China Border disputes. India's current state of preparedness and approach towards safeguarding national interests in light of the China war, as evaluated by the country's think tanks, is a source of pride. Because British wanted to stop Soviet’s encroachment to Indian Ocean. Bangladesh was not envisaged in the plan. After the failed court martial of INA commanders and subsequent Naval revolts British realises they can’t rule India with Indian soldiers. They started evacuating British families and soldiers from India. They brought Independence one year earlier from 1948 to 1947. Frontier province had a plebiscite for India or Pakistan but Pakhtunistan was denied by state Governor Olaf Caroe. In I946 British had a tacit support to Surhawardy’s call for Direct Action for Calcutta by withdrawing law enforcement. This had disastrous effect for the subcontinent. It was responded by Calcutta killing and riots in Noakhali, Bihar, Meerat and Punjab. At last Gandhi signed for partition and broke his promises to Maulana Azad and Ghaffar Khan.

Superb listening to all the three of you. Smithaji, I am absolutely awe struck by the way you handle the podcasts. Sushanthji as well as Tilakji both have the clear idea and insight on the situation. They say about some books as unputdownable. This episode is also the same.

Haven’t seen a mind as crystal clear on topic of Pakistan as Sushant Sareen. Deep thinker and very smart Analyst. Respect to the host and Tilak ji too. RAW is an extraordinary organisation & has the best human resources who serve India 🇮🇳. Only a poor, ill managed & broken Pakistan is good for Bharat 🇮🇳 , can’t agree more with Sushant Bhai.

So refreshing to see a Punjabi who is not crying nostalgic tears for his lost brothers in Lahore (or a Bengali who is not seculaar). Thumbs up for the guests, especially Mr Sareen. I am sorry Smita Prakash comes across as extremely out of depth, even ordinary, in this interview.

Thoroughly enjoyed this podcast, as always. The camaraderie between the three of you is a welcome one after watching acrimonious TV debates, which incidentally I have stopped watching. Always return more informed after listening to Sushant Sareen speak. Mr. Devasher I heard for the first or second time. Impressed by his views, his voice of experience. I love the apparently easy, charming way you sail through your podcasts, while asking intelligent questions and discussing, not just asking questions, waiting to jump to the next one.. That requires talent.😊

He has authored four publications regarding Pakistan. Consider the potential magnitude of the impact that reading all of his books could have, especially when his one-hour interview had such a significant effect. Although he worked as a spy, it is reasonable to acknowledge how he highlighted the Pakistani citizens' susceptibility to fleeing toward the Indian borders for refuge due to the severe inadequacy of assistance in Pakistan.

Wonderful episode. One of the most insightful on Pakistan equation. Interesting that Sushant's sharp observations on media's romantic/obsequious emotions on Pakistan and Pakistani elite leaders unsettled Smitha. For the first time, I see Smitha talking and screaming over her guests 🙂. When sushant was talking about Pakistani ability to throw away opportunities, Smitha was doubling down that there will not be any opportunities for them to throw away because no Indian PM succeeded in that effort. Never saw Smitha so aggressive. 😁. Very engaging episode.
