Since the flood peak in Mildura about 4 weeks ago the Murray River has dropped about 6 meters upstream of the weir. This is about 3 meters below the normal height. What has caused this massive variance?

it’s hard to believe the massive drop and now hopefully the fish will start to breed and bite

It’s because the water washed a lot of the debris downstream and silt out to sea. This has made the river deeper in some areas taking water away from its normal levels

I don't know and am making a wild stab in the dark but perhaps its to ease the flooding pressure up on the Darling river?? No idea really and a guess.
