Michael Schulman, the father of Parkland murder victim Scott Beigel, spoke to Nikolas Cruz during his sentencing for killing 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, telling the 24-year-old he hopes that he dies a painful death in prison. Schulman also had strong words for Cruz's defense team, accusing them of unprofessional behavior throughout the case.

Nothing will ever make Scott’s family feel “better”. But knowing that 500k people watched his funeral must be such a comfort, to know that your son touched so many peoples lives, in such a short time. I hope in time that memory overtakes the pain

As someone who lost their son after 9 months I can’t imagine getting to know him for a life time and then losing him in a brutal way like this. I’m so sorry for everyone that lost their child in this senseless act. I went to war to keep Children safe back home only for this to happen anyways.

For this father, who has served the Law as an attorney for 45 years… For him to point fingers at the defense team & say what he did.. he knows what goes down, he knows what those kinds of people are about. Thats huge:/ He’s an honorable man. Only reason he’s not flipping tables and yelling, and he’s sounding professional still even when angry.. is because he has respect for the judge and the court. God bless him and his family.

This hit so close to home, this man reminds me so much of my father, even how he looks but especially the things he said and I just keep imagining him standing up there having to go through this pain because of someone’s disgusting actions. The words he said, the hand gesture the stories it was like exactly what my father would say. I can’t imagine how I would feel if any of my family members were murdered and it took over 4 years to even BEGIN to get justice, I can’t imagine my life without my older brother he’s everything to me. This man is so strong and brave I’m proud of him and my heart goes out to him.

I lost my son to a drunk 20 year old third time offender drunk boat driver. I feel this man’s pain and also his restraint for truly expressing himself in the most honorable way possible. There is no pain like loosing a child.

There's no getting through to a person who's dead inside. He's a waste of breath and thought. Condolences to the individuals who were murdered, they were much more alive than he ever was, and they will keep living in their loved ones memories.

I truly wish this man, his wife, and the rest of the victims families find peace somehow. He spoke wonderfully and kept his composure incredibly. He held back way more than I ever could’ve. I love you and I love what you stand for.

I’ve seen this man sitting in this courtroom daily. Silent. Same expression. To hear him speak today, about his life and loss from this horrible case was absolutely devastating. Truly heartbreaking. I hope that he and the other families will have justice one day soon.

I'm from South Africa, my condolences to the Scott family and friends and to all the other victims family and friends. I never knew that this horror, also affected my country as well. I' m saddened that Scott's good work was so abruptly ended by this horrid person .RIP to all victims.

That whole defense team is an example of a total disgrace. They tried every dirty trick in the book in an attempt to get a mistrial for a POS. Some P'sOS can't be defended. I truly believe you RUINED your careers!

As a father of 4 daughters I feel so sad for these families. The pain and the suffering they are feeling is incomprehensible for any of us. I worry for my children even day. I pray to God to protect them and if something was to happen to take my life and not theirs. My condolences to the families that lost their loved ones. You are not alone. The world is watching and praying for you. GOD BLESS YOU

My heart absolutely breaks for these people. I lost my 22 year old son from a brain bleed and I am heartbroken. But this is just crazy!

Nicholas face during the entire trial and the impact statements is infuriating. I can not imagine having to be a family member sitting there seeing his blank almost smirking face, and his lawyers joking around and flipping people off. These families are unbelievably strong beautiful people.

This is what every good loving parent does. Rage at their child’s killer. I would do the same thing if I were in his shoes. My heart goes out to him and his wife and all the other parents that lost their child this tragically. This is the last thing every parent should ever have to hear after saying good bye to their kids that leave the house or apartment to go to school.
