Living off the land takes a lot of time, effort, experience and knowledge and this past year brought me a few steps closer to my goal of providing 90% of my food from hunting, fishing, foraging, growing, raising, cooking and preserving. Now that I have systems in place and good locations to gather from the wild and the garden, preserving food for long term off-grid storage is my next greatest challenge.

I love the production technique, keeping the viewer totally there with you, the shoots must take so much time, and data storage would be an endless hassle. Your edit skills and choices of sound, perfect. It is no wounded you have a following, doing the lifestyle is one thing but the unseen story must be immense. Great recap of 2020. Reminds me of my younger years when I spent all my time hunting and fishing in upstate N.Y. Around the Watertown area and Canada. Wouldn't I just love a man who can build things, is self-sufficient, logs his own timber, catches/raises his own food and can cook! How much wonderful is here in one man? The skills he possesses will stand the test of time and allow him to survive anywhere. This is great to watch. Thank you so much for the rerun. What I love the most is the lighting of fires in order to cook a meal. Truly uplifting.

What a Journey you have undertaken, I watched you from the beginning, and this is the second film I've watched this evening in over a year and a half. The videography is cinematic and beautifully produced and edited, who is responsible for that? The format has incredibly changed since I was here last, beautifully illustrated, inspirational. I thoroughly enjoy watching and learning the variety of methods that you apply to using objects for multiple purposes. The ore for a cutting board, screen door/window for a dehydrator, strings up zucchini to dry it. And all without narration just Nature's sounds or soothing music I had to concentrate to recognize wasn't from nature.

Thank you, Shawn, for this documentary of your bushcraft living, hunting and what you eat. When I saw you with that turkey on the table, taking off the feathers, I imagined how I would have to take a few deep breaths before starting to prepare the bird for dinner. I know I COULD DO IT, but I'd have to let go of the resistance toward seeing the reality of it, unfamiliar with slaughtering due to city life and buying meat ready to put in the pan. I've always felt that this way of living, foraging, hunting, for one's food, for the family or tribe, is the honest way proper. I'm sure that spending more time in the wilderness, like you've done already for quite a number of years, and provide for oneself, shelter, warmth, and food, helps to grow into it more, with ease and confidence. And to use the feathers, the parts of an animal that aren't edible, is awesome. Never let any useful material go to waste, in those conditions, isn't it? I so love the creative part of living self-reliant, inventiveness

Man, this is great. I am following you since ages. This is, what life should be. Not just a desire, 99,99% of us will never be able experience. Instead we're running our jobs to make money and hope being able to pay for vacation once a year. If i had a chance, i would instantly switch my current life for something similar. Yet here I sit in Germany, where i'm not even allowed to stay over night in a forest if it does not belong to me. Watching these videos is pure joy and keeps me sane. Keep it up and never stop!
