Thank you Michael! I just assembled my printer today. Watching this several months ago, I couldn't get over the ease with which such useful tools could be printed for use in my shop! I couldn't get your video out of my head, so I pulled the trigger and bought my first printer. Thank you! (I think!)

Why not filament change for lettering? Slicers have that functionality. And result is cleaner-not-always-black lettering.

That vise is useless for jewelry makers. it doesn't have enough strength, and can't be mounted to the bench. It's a 2 or 3 use tool.

You can find the centre of a circle with anything big enough with a right angle like a piece of paper, putting the right angle on the interior circumference, the crossing points of the circle and adjacent sides of the paper mark a diameter

Printers don’t get enough love for their ability to make custom jigs for other tools. A task that could take a ton of tedious measurement could take 3 hours of printing for a effortless and repeatable jig.

I'm just getting into printing. I'm waiting for my first printer to arrive in a few days. I'm blown away with just how much useful things can be printed. Saves so much money over the long haul being able to make these little tools at home that at the box stores can cost a fair amount of money over time.

Hey man, love the videos but I have a question. So many models require various sizes and lengths of M style bolts. I dont like anywhere near a hardware store and ordering bolt by bolt to be shipped is expensive. Where can I find a kit that has a variety of bolts that I can keep around? Thanks.

This is crazy. I started out with tools for handmade jewellery. Realised I needed a 3D printer cos my handmade skills were going to take multiple years to get better. Now that I have a 3D printer, I'm moving towards vacuum casting and a forge. All of these can be used to make aluminium and brass tools holy crap. I'll have my own own tools and won't need to buy them 😂 oh I'm going to be wasting a lot of time. I have a Foredom SR Dremel tool. That saw thing at the end is going to be fun.

DIY ! As long as it is only a question of the quasi upper hole, this tool would usually be dispensable - but if you have to achieve an exactly opposite hole in the pipe or other round body, then the purchase or DIY is worthwhile!

Is that your Samurai at 7:21? Awesome I love Sammys. I have owned 4 of them. Can't find anything is good shape where i live. How long have you had it? Is it the original 1.3L I4? 66 raw horse power unless you have EFI . My 1990 Samurai use to go 90 MPH in 4th/5th.. I needed to go back and forth to keep it going. They were not highway cars but they would climb a wall and i never had a Jeep that could follow me in hilly wooded areas. All this is assuming you are the owner of that Samurai/Jimny. Great video! Thanks for sharing.

4:40 It’s even easier to print the top two or three layers in a contrasting color. The Sharpie markings can be sloppy if you’re not careful, can fade, and get worn off. 5:15 There we go again…

"...Who have generously provided them for free..." I find very unfair when youtubers take free models and showcase them into their videos. In the end you are making money with these videos using other's people work. How much do they get from the showcasing? If you want to show useful stuff to 3D print, be sure that you show your own designs.

12:20 Shouldn't it be the other way around ? You can buy this hammer from the hardware store so why not ? I mean it's a cool tool but with 100% infill I would think twice in terms of plastic consumption (especially like people like me that have only 1 roll of plastic laying around) and time.

Spend a bunch on printer. power and plastic so you can print $5 or less plastic tools. Cool!
neilorourke71 4 aylar önce
A trick you can use when printing objects that have insets to take nuts- if the nuts are shearing the plastic insert, powder some baking soda into the hole. if you want, you can put some paper at the bottom to plug the hole and contain the powder. dust up the nut a bit as well. re-insert the nut. Then take a thin-consistency superglue and apply it around the edge of the nut, making sure it absorbs into the crevices. The powder will act like a sponge and soak up the glue. Once it dries it is rock solid. I used this trick when I made a small Dremel press. Used it for inset on the gear that raises and lowers the dremel. In testing I tried to see how hard I could force it down before it broke. It didn't lol. The rods that the dremel head was riding on popped out of the base first.

That first centrefinder is handy and quick but the traditional way to find the center is not measuring with a ruler😉 You simply use a marking gauge, calipers or even place your fingers against the piece as reference to mark an aproximation of the middle of the piece and then transfer that measurement to the other side and mark the point in the middle of your two marks. Thats the centre, just set wathever you used as a marking gauge to that and scribe along the piece. Even using your fingers as a gauge produces a suprisingly accurate center line.

The contour matcher looks like a cool project, but these can be purchased for just a couple of dollars, so I wouldn't recommend. A feature of the small clamp that I like is that it has flat parallel sides, so it could be locked into a large vice while it holds your small item.
