4 Tips If Your Beats Feel Repetitive | Turning your loop into a full beat can be one of the more difficult tasks when it comes to making a beat. The problem is though, that often producers will do this too early in the process. What happens is that they take an inherently repetitive idea, and try to make it into a beat. Then wonder why their entire beat feels repetitive.

If this happens to you, I would recommend you "extend your loop". This is an extra step that you can take in order to help your beat's core idea feel more interesting, and so when you move on to arranging and making it into a full beat, the chances of it feeling repetitive will (hopefully) decrease.

Even though this video was made using FL Studio, this can still apply if you are using Ableton, Logic, Garageband, Maschine, or any other DAW!

Yes!! Been hoping for an updated version of this video. Been having some beat block issues lately and I feel my beats don't much life and get dull and repetitive. Can't wait to take notes and apply these tips!

@Navie D They always do! And please not another sample! 🤣 Nah I need the practice with samples for sure hahaha. But awesome! I was just thinking about that this morning. Forgot to check the discord yesterday so wasn't sure if it was up. I know what I'll be working on tonight!

I’ve been learning to make beats the last few months, and your channel is bringing so much value! You’ve got so many good videos that cover all the challenges I’ve been experiencing as a new producer. I’ve definitely noticed the repetitive loopy beats are a problem for me, and this video is exactly what I needed to see.

Thank you! This video was extremely helpful! Could you please tell me if you think that using chords is a mostly a must when making a beats? You did not use chords in this one and I am just curious what you think about making beats with/without chords. This is a topic I haven't seen in anybody's video.

The glue function is relatively new, right? Within the last couple versions of FL? In any case, it's super helpful. I used to make anywhere from 2 to 8 different patterns of a drum loop I created, each pattern with a tiny switch up or some other small change when arranging. (Ugh, ikr?) Gluing them together makes the work flow more organized, aesthetically pleasing, and much more easy to.. flow, lol. I can remember when I first discovered this shortcut, along with cloning patterns. SUPER HELPFUL. Cheers, and thanks again, Navie!

I notice you use arcade a lot. I’ve never really looked into arcade. Do you recommend checking it out for someone who is more sample based but wants to go in more creating my own loops way? I don’t know anything about it except “I’d be a billionaire right now” lol great video btw

Can you do a tutorial where you show us how to remove drums from a loop/sample?
𝕲𝖗𝖆𝖚𝖙
𝕲𝖗𝖆𝖚𝖙 11 aylar önce
You could try using spleeter or one of the online tools of it. It only works well on some samples and on realistic drums. Other than that, you can try to boost an EQ bands across the sample to find which frequencies the drums take up and pull it down. There's a paid program by izotope called RX8 or RX7 or something like that can remove drums.

I learned from !llmind the 8-bar rule: work in 8-bar sections taking away and adding elements. 8-bars is the median attention period before something gets annoying or boring.

I like that framework, not gonna lie

Yeah, that idea comes from the 8 second attention span. If your tempo is 120 you could really use that to your advantage. Looking at you 30 seconds before the drop producers.

Not so related to this video, but I notice that some trap producers use minimal and sparsely-placed hats. Got any tips for how to make that specific type of trap beat? Nice tips btw. I might apply them to make my phonk less boring. lmao

Hey @Navie D can we request a PC building video for beat making or can you recommend me something that's not to crazy expensive that I can buy to use for my PC to make beats? My computer is super outdated and I'm pretty much stuck on what PC to buy to run Fl studios 9 on cuz my computer slows the fuck down nasty everytime I run FL making me kind of stay away from messing around with it as much as I would like to.

Repetitive beats are not bad at all most music producers who have hits in billboard make the most basic beats ever
Navie D
Navie D 11 aylar önce
I feel there is a difference. Most music is built on using loops, but there is something to be said about a beat being too repetitive. Especially if the artist themselves aren't very compelling.
