@Seth Martin & everyone... So many good Ted Talks... and my friends! Consider taking your time with these Ted Talks. Too many in 1 week, and most of it gets forgotten as there isn't enough time to reflect and consider where to apply any advise to your life. Reflection is as important as the Ted talk hitting your ear drums in the first place. Be well and Happy.

One of the important things he said: By mastering our sense of self we’re able to walk into a room where everything’s descending into chaos and retain our center. When everything’s breaking down around us with the eye of the storm, it’s like “ move, I’ll handle that”. That’s the best way that you’ll be able to handle uncertainty.
Iris Crain
Iris Crain 8 aylar önce
This is also one of the most misunderstood. This DOESN'T mean to take the power away from others to solve their own problems. It means to have the ability to stay calm and grounded when others are in chaos. The "move, I'll handle that" could be read as taking control - and while that's certainly necessary sometimes, especially in an emergency - it's most often a bad idea, for both the self-reliant person and for others. Not only does it contribute to burnout, feeling a lack of appreciation and overwhelm on the part of the self-reliant person, it can cause others to feel a lack of self ability and self worth, lack of resilience and co-dependency for those whom the self-reliant person is "saving." So all of the people in the situation come away feeling hurt, misunderstood and unhappy. Helping others build resiliency through your calm example and support on the other hand is a very healthy and good thing for all involved. As a recovering "fix-it" person, this is a very powerful and important distinction. Without it, that calm center is neither genuine nor long-lasting, and can be blown away with a single adverse event. Repeatedly. Sometimes, fatally.

@Iris Crain yeah i learned that from being a co-founder for an ecommerce brand... things went sideways and i went into my "gotta save the business mode" and i ended up making my partner feel like he is not contributing and ended up burning myself out... but it was hard because every task he under took... it was always subpar... i am wondering if his confidence was blown

This was incredibly insightful to listen to. Thank you for sharing these wise words and great quotes! I think most people live a life of mediocrity because they don't know how to rise above the opinion of themselves and feel trapped by their negative thoughts/feelings. They operate as if they were sitting in the passenger seat of their own life instead of the driver seat because they don't learn how to control their emotions so their emotions eventually begin to control them. Mastering your emotions is extremely difficult. It's a journey and it is something that takes a lot of work.

Key things he said: 1. Stop putting the wrong things in. Consume the right content, hang around the right people, etc… 2. Start putting the right things in. Focus on the good, focus on the POSITIVE! 3. Get the things that shouldn’t be there, out. Work with a mentor/coach, that can reach in and find unconscious patterns to rip them out.

Larry Tartisel
Larry Tartisel Yıl önce
@Mads Without knowing it, we can have poor opinions of our own worth. We silently (sometimes not silently) question our value to the world and that gets us behaving in ways to try to prove to the world (or mostly ourselves) that we are worthy. Those behaviors of constantly striving for approval and acceptance, prove counter-productive to rising in our lives. If I think poorly of myself, I will frequently self-sabotage my life. When my worth is no longer questioned, I can meet my potential and become a greater version of my self. I've seen this said this way too "We live up to our identity, not our potential."

I’m learning right now that we don’t need to be friends with our family, or even have them in our lives if they are the constant negativity. I’ve learned to treat family like I treat any other relationship. We never asked to be born, so we don’t owe our parents anything. If we were meant to have a good relationship with them, they would’ve set it up that way from the beginning.

This talk from Peter Sage was probably the most inspiring thing I've ever heard. Sadly I'll probably continue doing nothing with my life because my self talk has always won over any fleeting inspiration I have. And when I die, only a few people will know I'm gone and only a few more will know that I ever lived. Hopefully between now and then I can at least give people a gift that I've never received; helping them to believe that they are worth something and that they can do big things if they believe in themselves.

Comparable with this analogy, if you zoom out far enough you’ll realize our entire Universe is infinitely more meaningless than an extra in a movie. I love all of the relatable analogies in the content of yours that I’ve seen, and this one really hits home. I’ve been thinking a lot about environment and partnerships, and what is really healthy. It’s a tough pill to swallow, some of it, but really getting out of that comfort zone is ultimately the most loving, terrifying thing we can do for ourselves! Yikes! 😆🙈🙏🏻
MTL
MTL 2 aylar önce
the Ant Analogy though ...Anyways, why get out of comfort zone, when you can simply change the parameters of your comfort zone, and by default achieve results REGARDLESS what is in the environment. I have people always trying to put me down, but proverbial "water off a ducks back" or as in JC's words, paraphrase blessed are ye when people speak negative about you... If you depend on someone or others to purely, only build you up, and never even hint at criticizing or discouraging you, that's pretty fragile arrangement and near-impossible to find, and even if you find it, then you'd be dependent or co-dependent, along with all the dysfunctions that brings.

Great speech, although I really doubt you can get rid of doubt forever :) doubt is a assessment tool of your subconscious to get the best results. It’s not necessarily a bad thing as long as your aware of it and can convince your subconscious about your doubt by: giving yourself the write answer, assessing pros and cons and upscaling your clarity, reminding yourself your purpose, taking a step of action and repeat the process. Then it will turn into your strength on that subject and this means your subconscious has accepted the new programming. Embrace doubt as an assessment and reprogram your mind :) good luck 👍🏻

Peter Sage has done it again, Thankyou for the enlightenment Conclusion: Start working on it instead of focusing on the negativity we most likely go back to because of the lack of motivation, If we take control of that thought we will be able to defeat the uncertainty where everything won't be solved instead we're actually putting ourselves into the right direction where we'll feel so much better and stronger

This should be the 1st lesson taught in all schools. We are our thoughts. That is our reality, and how we CAN change it. We are the one we've been looking for, it has been there from the beginning.

1 - Choose to live an integrous life. Integrity in your daily routine. 2 - Choose to pass your wisdom on not your suffering, your woe, and/or your trauma. Your Wisdom or your woe - choose your wisdom. 3 - Choose to take risks don’t wait for proof. Don’t default to regrets. The majority of your fears don’t come true. Don’t look backwards for guidance - don’t look fir over to chart new … who you were doesn’t know. Seek the unknown as the possible in your newness…and nowness. 4 - Choose new words. Every word is a new universe at your service. These words have power to heal, frequencies to restore, vibrations to revitalise, energy to empower, momentum to transform. 5 - choose to get up every day and bless your day. Base your gratitude for your new day on your being alive. This day will never come again. Caroline Myss

Thank you for sharing the idea about changing the environment. Otherwise, it always wins over time. Like the ant analogy - if it is on the back of an elephant, heading another direction, the ant cannot reach its desired direction. But if the ant goes down from the elephant to another animal, which heads its direction, the ant would rocket to its destination. Also the tip to avoid media, news, and such is amazing! Instead of these, I can learn/read about the life of people, who motivate and inspire me. The idea is to focus on what I want - I can choose this, but once my focus is on the right thing, it will change me. I loved the tip to get a mentor. It is in my to do list for this year. :) The example about the person with time management issues was great! His actual issue was not being able to say no. By taking too many things in his hands, he thought he couldn't manage his time... At the end you said something, which made me realize that I don't need any more lections, events, speeches, etc. because I have enough. Everytime a few basic principles are always there. All I need to do instead is work on myself with what I already know.

17:00 "By mastering our sense of self, we're able to walk into a room, where everything's descending into chaos, and retain our center. When everything's breaking down around us, we're the eye of the storm. It's like, 'Move, I'll handle it.' See, that's the best way you'll be able to handle uncertainty." Sounds like my kid at 18. Thank you for this video.

@Sadia Manirumva only If you have the holy spirit loving in you then you are able to do great works as jesus did. But it's a slippery slope claiming the I Am bc only Jesus is the true I am. When u allow him to work through you not taking any credit for yourself but giving him all the glory then ur statement could be somewhat true. But it's still a slippery slope. Hey I'm just saying it bc I've been there with the I am and dabbled with the occult and new age. But once the love of God speaks to ur heart, u realize u were nothing without him and u are made in HIS IMAGE to rule the earth and have dominion over it. But he wanted to work hand in hand w u, never for u to do it alone. So its depending on how ur using that statement...."I am" at least in my eyes speaking from experience. But I'm not trying to argue or have a debate. Or say that you are wrong. Only that Jesus Loves you more than anything and he knows you, and you were never created to do this life alone. ♡ much love to u

I am the queen of procrastination! I have been shaken to my core by your presentations - I think you speak so profoundly to my inner being because you understand the language of the heart. I was blown wide open by your statement that life is not comfort centric it is growth centric. I am looking forward to your master class tomorrow. Bit of a jumble of statements I know - but I will be on that course come what ever is thrown in the way !

That was tremendous, not just because of what he said but the way he seemlessly wove an organized progression and informative narrative that held your attention from start to finish which was a succinct 18+ minutes. It could almost be used as a template for every TED talk. Top marks.

I showed this video to my mom to help her understand the internal struggles I face due to years of physical and emotional abuse. She told me that she's tired of me telling her she's a bad mother and to stop blaming her for my failure. This video did such a good describing how self-doubt manifests but if this didn't work, I feel nothing will.
