Why is important the mantion of this family in colossas video about the whole history. 12:54
johaquila
johaquila 3 aylar önce
@Isabel Teresa Salas De Lobo That's the Habsburg family. For a few centuries they were extremely important for the balance of power in Europe. At some point various branches of the family owned Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Italy. Also parts of France. The rest of Europe felt threatened by them (for good reason, of course), and this led to various wars. On this level of detail the Habsburgs didn't have to be included, but it made sense as it's something a lot of people learned a lot about in school.

As entertaining as this video is, it's not a proper way to teach history. You get the basic facts of "what happened", but that's not what history is. Still funny, though.
Isaac Hester
Isaac Hester 22 gün önce
@Hirocheeto I agree with you. But I think this is a great starting off point because it condenses everything into little memorable chunks and gives a great overview. I think it would actually be fun to start off teaching this way, then move on to the details later.

If we ever get another official history video I'd love to see an in-depth history of China, Africa, India or the Middle East. Regions with a lot of complexity that barely ever get mentioned in the American K-12 education system. I learned a lot from the Japan video (and yes I know they aren't meant to be 100% historically accurate lol but they give you fun topics to research).

Best video on youtube and a work of art. I have never commented on a video before but it's been 5 years of watching this and loving it each time that I need to publicly appreciate it.
